NEW: Book of girls by (shop link on profile)

For as long as Beci Orpin has drawn, she has been obsessed with the female form. The Book of Girls brings together over 30 years of manifestations of these forms into a book. From the early days of university drawing to designing t-shirts for the clothing label Princess Tina to current-day projects, Book of Girls presents an archival view of Beci’s work told through her sketchbooks. The book presents a behind-the-scenes look into her process and the various mediums she has worked in over the years.

There is so much of Snackfood because of Beci. To us, she is an artist, story teller and a true collector of happy things. We are excited to host her on 29.06.23 (2pm) for a book signing and intimate conversation over her career in art. join us!

Lately, we’ve been receiving more farewell visits than usual ~ by returning to their home countries after a few years of living and working in KL. Meeting these 2 sisters was refreshing as they each worked in Johor and Melaka and chose to reconnect in KL, at Snackfood. What a privilege to host them, and quite a refreshing change from bidding forever goodbyes.

“Nothing’s different, but everything has changed”

I’ll take this quote from to synthesise my feelings from latest release, Issue 9: The Lost Issue.

The Lost Issue is inspired by the cathartic feeling of getting to be outdoors again after months under lockdown. This issue celebrate stories of survival and successes amid the pandemic, and seek wisdoms from friends around the globe on ways to cope and set forth.

Indeed, it is a timely release because our Malaysian borders are open again. It is bitter sweet too, because you and I know, travel won’t be travel that we used to know.

Let’s get Lost together 💛
