Fully vaccinated Malaysians or foreigners going to Sabah will no longer need to quarantine from April 1, the state government announced today. State local government and housing minister Masidi Manjun said travellers must undergo an RTK-Antigen (RTK-Ag) test prior to immigration clearance at the point of entry. It’s certainly not April’s fool & we are all very excited to embrace the reopening of our borders effective this 1st April 2022! So get your passport ready & let’s travel again!

Here are some imperative information to behold:

The Prime Minister said visitors, as well as Malaysian returnees, who are fully vaccinated are not required to undergo quarantine upon arrival. They, however, must undergo a RT-PCR test two days before departure and a rapid test (RTK) upon arrival.

International travelers who are not fully vaccinated must undergo five days of quarantine upon arrival in Malaysia, says Khairy Jamaluddin. The Health Minister said travelers who are not fully vaccinated will also be subjected to local Covid-19 protocols when in the country, including not being allowed to dine-in at restaurants.

For foreign travelers arriving into Malaysia, they are no longer required to apply through MyTravelPass. Ismail Sabri said they are only required to download the MySejahtera app and must complete a pre-departure form.

As for Malaysians, Ismail Sabri said those with valid documents are free to travel to any other country that has reopened their borders to visitors
