Proudly established on the 16th February 2009 by a group of entrepreneurs who are markedly passionate about the future direction of the specialty gifts and premium industry. The Association

represents companies from across the gifts and premium industry – manufacturers, designers, specialty services providers, wholesalers, importers, exporters, retailers - from sole traders to sizeable organisations. This association is dedicated to the advancement and development of the gifts and premium industry and working hard not only in Malaysia but also exploring, exploiting and expanding into the international market. The Association is managed and steered by an elected board of committee from member companies, all of whom have extensive experience in the industry, assisted by a full-time secretariat which provide administrative support to all the members. MGPA Chinese New Year Members Get Together 🧧🐍

What a joyous celebration as we ushered in the Year of the Snake with our MGPA family! The day kicked off with an energetic lion dance performance to bring prosperity and good luck to all our members, followed by the tossing of Lou Sang, symbolizing abundance and unity.

A special thank you to Hap Seng Star Setia Alam for providing us with such a spacious and welcoming venue. Members were also treated to an exclusive opportunity to test drive a variety of Mercedes models on display—making the event even more memorable.

Adding a touch of tradition, we enjoyed a Chinese calligraphy session, where our members explored the beauty of this ancient art. It was truly a meaningful gathering, filled with camaraderie, laughter, and the spirit of the New Year.

Subject: *Beware of Fraudulent Syndicate Targeting MGPA Members*

Dear Valued Members,

It has come to our attention that a syndicate posing as representatives of well-known multinational corporations (MNCs) is actively targeting businesses within our industry. These fraudulent individuals are engaging in a deceitful scheme to solicit your company’s information and documents under the pretense of registering you as a vendor.

The modus operandi of this syndicate is as follows:-

1. *Vendor Registration Request*: They will contact your company, claiming to represent a reputable MNC and ask you to register as an official vendor.

2. *Submission of Documents*: Once you submit the required company documents, they will send a fake Purchase Order (PO) to make their offer appear legitimate.

3. *Request for Payment*: As part of their fraudulent scheme, they will urgently request you to make a payment to a third-party company, citing it as part of the project requirement or job-related urgency.

We strongly urge all MGPA members to exercise extreme caution when dealing with such requests. Please verify the legitimacy of the company and individual contacting you before sharing any sensitive documents or making payments. Do not proceed with any transaction without proper due diligence and verification.

If you suspect or have encountered such activities, kindly report the incident immediately to the police station for further assistance and to prevent others from falling victim to this scheme.

Your safety and business integrity are our utmost priority, and we appreciate your vigilance in this matter.

🌟 Exciting Media Engagement Recap! 🌟

On December 10, 2024, the Malaysian Gifts & Premium Association (MGPA) had a fruitful visit to The Star's office at Menara Star, initiated by our dedicated Mass Comm Department.

The Star, founded in 1971, has carved its legacy as one of Malaysia's leading English-language newspapers, known for its commitment to delivering reliable news and insightful commentary. With a strong digital presence and influential readership, The Star plays a crucial role in shaping public discourse in the country.

The Malaysian Gifts and Premium Association (MGPA) successfully hosted our 2nd Members Engaging Luncheon on 27th November 2024 with headed by President Mr.Ivan Loo and Head of Membership & Members Outreach (MMOR) Mr. Wayne Chan to continue our efforts to reconnect with non-active members and strengthen ties within the industry.

Held in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the luncheon provided an excellent platform for fostering relationships, exchanging market insights, and reigniting interest in MGPA’s initiatives. On November 22, 2024, the Malaysian Gifts and Premium Association (MGPA) hosted a delightful and engaging luncheon at the OUG Jade Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. This event was specifically designed to reconnect with non-active members of the association, creating a welcoming environment for open discussions and meaningful interactions. The primary objectives of the gathering were to foster stronger connections among members, reignite their interest in MGPA’s initiatives, and explore valuable market insights within the gift and premium industry.

Media Engagement

On November 21, 2024, the Malaysian Gifts and Premium Association (MGPA), led by President Ivan Loo and the board of committee, visited Sin Chew Media Corporation Berhad to strengthen ties between the two organizations. We were welcomed by Mr. Tan Kin Chuan, General Manager, and Ms. Mun Yee Mun, Executive, both from the Corporate Communications & Promotion Division. The meeting facilitated an exchange of perspectives on current developments in the media industry.

Sin Chew Media Corporation Berhad, established in 1929, is an investment holding company that publishes, prints, and distributes newspapers and magazines. Malaysian Gifts and Premium Association (MGPA), under the Government Industry Department (GID) initiated a fruitful visit to Kraftangan Malaysia to explore potential collaborations between both organizations.

The MGPA Board of Committee had a productive meeting with the top management of Kraftangan Malaysia, lead by MGPA President, Mr.Ivan Loo and Kraftangan Deputy Director General Tn Abdul Halim discussing various opportunities for collaboration in promoting Malaysian-made products, particularly handcrafted gifts and premium items.

This meeting marks a significant step towards strengthening the local industry and fostering partnerships that benefit both MGPA members and the local crafts community. We look forward to future collaborations that will support the growth and development of our industry.
