For one, you are almost always assured of a good catch, come rain or shine. Because Sabah is located at the ideal spot, with shallow waters around the coast of Sabah, and the deep sea further out. Where you go fishing depends on the type of catch you are interested in. Some species are found in shallow waters, in and around the various islands of Kota Kinabalu and Sabah. For short fishing trips, we might head out to the waters around Mengalum Island, north-west of Kota Kinabalu. It takes about 3 hours to get there with our fleet of boats. The waters here are less than 100m deep, and the type of catches are Grouper, Red Snapper, Barracuda, Travelly, Marlin, Yellow Fin Tuna and Mackeral to name a few. Heading towards Matanani Island, off the coast of Kota Belud is a trip of 6 hours. So where we ultimately fish depends on how long you charter our boat for. With adequate time, we might head to the waters near an island, stop for day to do some fishing before we continue out to deeper waters the next day. In the deep sea, with depths of more than 150m, you can expect to catch Amberjacks, Ruby or Black Groupers. These types of fishes are typically found in deep waters, also these fishes are largely in size and you can expect a good fight. Travel time out to deep waters can take up to 8 or 10 hours. Fishing in the waters of Layang-Layang island, also known as Swallow Reef, is a 10 hour journey . This is recommended for long charters, as the fishing here is particular good. As individual groups have different itinerary and interests, the price for each trip may vary slightly. Depending on the length of your charter, the type of fish you want to catch and whatever else you want to fit into your trip. Prices are for the fishing charter only. While we can make reservations for you in the resort or hotel of your choice, our prices do not include accommodations. Our Fishing Trip Packages
4 Days/3 Nights
We recommend a basic trip of 4 days and 3 nights. This allows us enough time to get to our destination, and set for some good, solid fishing. Prices start from: RM 5,500 (approx. USD1,700) per trip.
3 Days/2 Nights
If your time is limited, we suggest you take the 3 days and 2 nights package. This package will still give you 2 days of fishing. Prices start from: RM 4,500 (approx. USD1,400) per trip.
2 Days/1 Night
We have added a 2 Days/1Night fishing package for our customers. Prices start from: RM 3,500 (approx. USD1,120) per trip. Day Trip
We have also added a Day Trip fishing package for our customers who are here on a holiday and just wanted to trip deep sea fishing. The Day Trip is from 8.00am to 8.00pm. You will be going out to sea on board the fishing charter boat. Prices start from: RM 2,500 (approx. USD800) per trip. Fishing Trip includes:

The Tides
The phenomenon of the tides has been studied since antiquity. How do tides form? What types of tides are there and how do they influence sport fishing? In this section we will try and answer these questions clearly and precisely.
The tides are periodic oscillations in the level of the sea which come about as a result of the attraction of the Sun and the Moon on the liquid particles of oceans. The effects of the celestial bodies superimpose and the result constitutes the generating force of the tides.
The relation of the tides with the principle of universal gravitation has permitted the quantitative definition of these forces.
According to the law of universal gravitation (Isaac Newton), the force of attraction between these two celestial bodies is proportional to the mass of the celestial body and inversely proportional to the square of the distance that separates them.

Applying Newton's Law we deduce that the Moon is so close to Earth that the action of the Sun, despite its enormous mass, does not exercise even half of the effects of the Moon. In tide simulations we can graphically prove how the resulting tide is principally provoked by the action of the moon. This explains the great relationship of the tides with the lunar phases.
However, tides undergo great variations depending on the geography of the coast in any given area. This is why, in order to produce reliable tide forecasts at any point of the planet, we use mareographs, which record the sea levels at different times of day and we take advantage of the cyclical nature of the tides to forecast the tide tables.
Given that the only factors we take into consideration in tide formation are the Moon and the Sun, the Moon due to its proximity and the Sun due to its mass, they tend to be called astronomical tides. However, despite the fact that the Sun and above all the Moon are the fundamental factors in the formation of tides, we must also know that other atmospheric phenomena, the wind and the rain also provoke variations in sea level, although due to their unpredictability in the long term, they are not taken into consideration in tide tables. With an atmospheric pressure higher than normal, sea levels will be lower than those forecast in the tables, and vice versa. In addition, a strong and constant wind which blows in the direction of the coast will produce higher tides than those forecast, while a wind in the opposite direction will provoke lower tides.
