When I thought alor street is way to expensive meant for the tourists, passed by this lorong and saw few uncles still cooking damn good Hokkien mee and kungfu yong yong. It has been a while coming to kl for some hawker food scene. When in doubt, just follow and see what the local eats.

✨ Discover the magic of Malaysia's Wayang Kulit! 🌟

This ancient art form is a captivating blend of shadow puppets, storytelling, and music.

I used to watch the cap ubat batuk commercial ad back in 1990 TVc ad. I was curious and turned out you might be able to watch the puppeteer show in kelantan or Indonesia perhaps. In China, they definitely use puppets as we watch in the classic movies.

I'm amazed the intricate craftsmanship of leather puppets being finely made, and then brought to life by the skilled hands of a Tok Dalang (master puppeteer). 🎭

Apparently the whole show, master puppeteer needs to do solo, from sound effect, change of voice, narrator while directing the whole puppet show.

For , I was happy to see they run a puppet show aside offering special workshops to hands on to create a puppeteer.
They are located at gmbb kl. It's not easy to still have people sustaining such heritage culture. What amazed is that a twist of the modern star wars wayang kulit, with the special star war plot session.

Fusion Wayang Kulit is a groundbreaking project founded by Tintoy Chuo and Take Huat in 2012. It combines traditional Malay shadow puppetry (wayang kulit) with science fiction, particularly Star Wars. Their main project, Peperangan Bintang, features characters like Sangkalah Vedeh (a Darth Vader-inspired demon) and Perantau Langit (Luke Skywalker). The team aims to revitalize wayang kulit by blending it with modern elements while preserving its authentic form, including the use of Kelantanese Malay dialect. Led by master puppeteer Pak Dain, Fusion Wayang Kulit has become a prominent force in Malaysian culture and education. The whole shadow puppet show is in bahasa malay language.

One of the largest indoor theme park in kl, no need purposely go for an outdoor sunburnt or wet theme park finally. However, they only take each ride once and finish the whole berjaya Times Square theme park within 2 hours.
OK la. A short break from the school holiday. Already cracking head don't know wherelse to bring them for school holiday already.

The good thing is each ride for the junior version and the upper primary version. Bumper ride is included so hey not that bad for an entry fee of rm50 only at such economical difficult times.

We tried the abang adek famous from cyberjaya, it's 2nd branch at Bukit Bintang are now introducing their Nasi kukus and mamak mee goreng.

Feeling adventurous? Explore the depths of flavor with high fire fry mee goreng mamak (savory stir-fried noodles) and again, you may pair the mamak mee with sotong or ayam. My friends say their mamak mee although a bit smaller in portion for big guys like them, it is truly tastefully done, and got a little bit of rojak kinda saucy in it.

I like kinda fusion cause they introduced Thai milk tea and green milk tea. What's interesting that abang adek knows we all Malaysian like varieties an hence they made one special cup where you can enjoy 2 separate different type of Thai milk tea at the same time.

2024 ipoh trip - somehow the food isn't cheap and we avoid mostly the tourist hot spot instead.

1) nam chau Kopitiam jalan Bandar timah - we walk from ktm to here. As they have the same branch in kl, I would say a modern Kopitiam keeping the ipoh taste and cuisine.

2) dinner at lao you ji 老友记- famous for their 红烧猪肉 and wonton mee. But we didn't choose that cause kids more into their own comfort food. A big nono ❌ for the uncle dimsum and yellow ginger chicken. Rojak is alright.

3) lunch. Catch up with after 10 years didn't meet him! He brings me to a pitstop at [family food court] at taman canning ipoh, after we check in into our 2nd condo hotel. He recommended the Apam balik with peanuts, corn, banana. And it's really super crispy with the a slight burnt crispy flavour. I ordered chicken rice and of course fragrant ginger chicken rice is superb with the succulent tender poached chicken. Somehow I wonder the chickens and bean sprouts are really better than the ones in kl. The popiah is filled with lots of the crushed deep fried garlic crisps I believe. Basically it's mouthful when wallop one piece of the popiah. Kids saw the chee cheong fun sweet sauce is reddish color and wonder why it isn't brown sauce like in kl.

4) dessert. Hop on the soya bean [lai kei] soya instead of the famous long queue [funny mountain]
Uncle still serve pretty good Soya bean and tau too fah.

5) basically for family budget friendly just book the condominium due to headcount and the space we are looking at. Usually family will. Just book majestic condo or octagon condo. Photos weren't here as it's a standard condo stay. However, it's a bonus to snap a city view of ipoh and some heritage buildings.

6) dinner at Sun tuck kee 新德记 taman julibee ipoh. well we all know those family business affair. So we have old tuck kee and new tuck kee. But it's okay la. No need hype so long the standard is not too bad. We just sit at [sun tuck kee] and ordered their signature which are: moonlight hor fun, soya sauce steamed mini octopus. These two passed. Kid saw j stir the raw egg together with the hofun, and ask me where did the egg go? 😂 Although they self create a loh mee style with fish noodles. The taste is.moderate. The octopus soya sauce is actually using the same soya sauce that goes along with ipoh poached chicken. Overall I'm surprised that almost every fishballs my kid ordered across all the food stalls are not those typical suppliers type. It seems each got their refereed handmade or factory made fishballs, and each of them is unique with qq texture.

7) googled and turn out most coffeeshop or food court might have some late morning 9am only to operate. We don't have much choices near condo walking distance and we walk into this [Paris restaurant] that serves hakka mee. You can order just those plain hakka noodles with fully minced pork meats on top. Those fish balls, pork balls, and condiments are all at additional costs. Coffee and bread toasts, half boiled eggs are the usual locals favourite. Therefor, it's a must to have the toasted bread with butter chunks and green or brown kaya spread. I would say it's an average taste as this coffeeshop serves only the moderate hakka mee and no other stalls.
