Our President Filipe Nyusi has just announced that our BEACHES ARE OPEN 🇲🇿🙂👍🐳🏖

Please read the summary below.........

🇲🇿Summary of measures announced by President Nyusi this evening:

All measures announced in Decree 24/2021 of 26 April remain in force except:
1. Pre-school education can resume, but subject to strict compliance with sanitary conditions
2. Multipurpose and medium-sized gyms may reopen, but small gyms remain closed
3. Beverage stores (bottle stores) are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm from Monday to Saturday and remain closed on Sundays and public holidays
4. Issuance of business and work visas will resume
5. Participation in State events goes from a maximum of 100 to a maximum of 150 people
6. Participation in religious services, religious ceremonies and conferences increases to 40% of venue capacity or a maximum of 75 people in closed spaces and 150 people in open spaces
7. Participation in funeral ceremonies goes from a maximum of 20 people to a maximum of 30 people, but in the case of funeral ceremonies for victims of COVID-19, the limit remains at 10 people
8. Public swimming pools are back in operation, but with a limit of 30% of their capacity
9. The beaches are reopened for walks and swiming, but without agglomerations or alcohol consumption
10. Restaurants can now close at 9 pm
11. The curfew remains in all places where it is in force but lasts from 11 pm to 4 am

Our spotlight this week is on the inspirational Nakia Cullain! 💙✨

A marine ecologist from Canada, Nakia moved to Mozambique in 2016 to take over direction of the Zavora Marine Lab, founded Marine Action Research (MAR), and in 2020 joined the Marine Megafauna Foundation. She leads various research projects in Zavora, with a particular focus on sharks and rays. Her main objective is to improve marine conservation and management of marine resources in Mozambique through the investigation of artisanal and industrial fishing and its impacts on threatened species.
