Ponta do Ouro - Tourism Info

Activities include:

- Scuba Diving which is the most common tourist attraction in Ponta
- Dolphin and Whale whatching
- Swim dolphins
- viewing turtels
more than 100 inshore bottlenose and spinner dolphins as well as humpback whales(in winter) reside in these crystal clear waters. Currecy:
ZAR ( Rand) is widely accepted
no ATM facilities are available, although some places do accept credit car

- RSA citizans no longer need a Visa
- fuel is now available in Ponta do Ouro
- This is a "maleria area" so do consult a doctor before your trip/visit
- No driving on the beach is allowed
- There is no airport

how to get there:

7 hour drive from JHB/ PTA
You can choose to drive your normal car to the border but on the sandy roads leading into Ponta a 4x4 is needed. There are border transfers available that will meet you at the border where you can park your car in secure parking at the border post. Directions:
from JHB/PTA take witbank highway
then take the Hendrina/Ermelo off-ramp
Trough Hendrina, Eremlo, Piet Retief and Pongola
Pongola about 50km later turn off into Jozini
Trough Jozini turn left at the fork, cross dam wall drive to the T-junction turn right follow the signs to Kosi Bay
Trough Manguzi carry on straight to the border 25km later
After the border follow the Do Ouro signs to your resort

NB!!! Border is only open from 8am - 5pm so please plan your trip accordingly.
