Prepare to be caprivated by the remarkable warthog, a true character of the African plains.

Did you know?

â—ŹWarthogs' scientific name Phacochoerus africanus is derived from the Greek words, phakos for 'wart and koiros, meaning 'pig'.

â—ŹThese robust creatures possess an impressive running speed, capable of reaching up to 30 miles per hour.

â—ŹTheir formidable tusks, which can grow over a foot long, serve the dual purpose of digging and defense.

â—ŹTheir eyes sit high on their heads so that they can spot predators, even while grazing. While their eyesight may be quite poor, they have an excellent sense of smell

â—ŹWarthogs can live up to 17 years.

â—ŹFemale warthogs have four teats, and each piglet suckle exclusively from its designated teat. Even if one of the youngsters sadly passes, the remaining piglets will not occupy the available teat. Thus, female warthogs rarely raise more than four offspring at a time, although they can give birth to up to 8 piglets.

Come visit our farm and witness these incredible animals in their natural habitat during your stay at Kalahari Hunting Safaris.
