That was pretty painless... Straight off the MSC by 6:30am. Home tomorrow!!! We have been away for over a month and really miss home !

Homeward bound..... We have had to skip our last stop at Portugese island due to bad weather.

I think we are both looking forward to getting home. We absolutely loved Mauritius and Reunion! What beautiful countries to visit!

Some advice ...

If you book a cruise and go to Mauritius, take a bus to travel around. It's safe and cheap. The reason I say this is because taxi drivers charge you an arm and a leg ($150 or $50 pp). Then they argue with you as to where you want to go. Try and draw some rupees it will help alot and much cheaper to pay in rupees than dollars.

The best places to go to the beach are in the north and west of the island. When traveling to the west, bear in mind that you could get stuck in traffic coming back to Port Louis. Sometimes you can sit for 2hrs so plan accordingly.

In Reunion the MSC doesn't tell you that you can catch a bus to the beach. It's €20 per person and the bus will take you to the swimming beach. Important to note in Reunion there is basically 1 beach you can swim at and it's knee deep and the sand is tiny pieces of coral.
The other beaches around Reunion are closed due to sharks. Remember it's the euro in Reunion and only French is spoken. Very little people speak English. So learning the basic French will help.

There are also excursion onboard MSC to Reunion but really out priced.

Portugese island is weather dependent. If there is high swells you not going to get off.

The drinks vouchers on board are worth it and it works out cheaper.

My advice when booking a cruise ..

If you are not into children and want to relax this is NOT the cruise for you. There is a huge problem onboard with regard to kids and absolutely no control.

Unless you are up really early you are not going to get a shaded spot by the pool. There have been problems with people booking deck chairs. Even though it's not allowed, no one listens.

If you want a whirlpool bath experience book at the spar. The whirlpool baths on deck 13 have kids constantly in them.

Eat at your designated Restaurant. The buffet on deck 13 is a nightmare with pushing and shoving etc.

All in all it's going to be good to get home!

We onto day 9 of our cruise. It's been great fun. We met up with old friends and made new ones. Mauritius was amazing ! Reunion was ok but we won't go back. It's not a tourist destination and if you looking to swim, there is only one beach where swimming is allowed due to sharks. The beach at which you can swim has tiny sharp coral all over so it's a bit hard on your feet and only knee deep.

We have really enjoyed the shows on board particularly Elvis. I do think we got very spoilt on the Queen Mary... so coming on to the MSC you can see the clear difference between the two. I have seen many bad reviews of the MSC in SA and I get it. There is a problem with unattended small children on board that are running absolutely wild. Food is sub standard and communication on board is poor. The pool area is also an issue. Unless you get up before the sun comes up you won't get a spot at the pool as towels are put on the lounges. As I say perhaps we have been spoilt on the QM but we won't be doing a MSC again.

We have had a great time with awesome memories!

We are looking at doing an Antartic tour so now we need to look at which company we would like to use. If any of you out there could suggest one or have been on an Antartic cruise let us know !

Bye Mauritius! See you soon ! What a lovely time spent here ! Now we are off to Reunion..... We ended off today with the morning spent with my all time favourite rugby player Cobous van Der Westhuizen.

Can't wait to come back. Mauritius is such a laid back awesome country with such friendly people living there.
