OMUKUKUTU VILLAGE (Omukukutu wa Hamundjungu) Is situated in the northern part of Namibia.It has a total population of less than 300 residents. Agricultural and cattle farming (mainly Subsistence farming)are the main activities contributing to its local economy. The village is located in a picturesque tropical forest area and Tourists can experience the Oshikwanyama culture by visiting the village
which also hosts an annual cattle festival (Omaludi). Although the region depends on rain fed agriculture, other crops can be established under intensive cultivation. The most commonly spoken language at home is Oshikwanyama.the literacy rate is 20%. unemployment in the Ohangwena Region in which the village is situated, stood at 34.6%. Among households, 90% do not have access to safe water and improved sanitation (toilet facilities).[72% access to radio, and 94% have wood or charcoal for cooking.In terms of households' main sources of income, 52% derived it from subsistence farming, 13% from wages and salaries, 8% from business or non-farming, and 20% from pension. A significant amount of fighting occurred in the region during the Namibian War of Independence. The home town of Okongo once served as the military point for the South African Defense Force (SADF).
