Lions are top giraffe predators, as a pride of lions can take down a fully-grown giraffe.
More than half of giraffe calves never reach adulthood and lion predation may be the leading cause of death. Lions hunt subadult and adult giraffes also, although people rarely see these attacks.
Giraffes are able to protect themselves from predators by staying in groups, as it makes it more challenging for the predator. If they need to defend themselves, giraffes have a deadly, karate-style kick.

Credits @adamernsterwildlife
This behavior is observed particularly when hunting schooling fish or when targeting larger prey like seals.
Orcas are skilled hunters and use a variety of hunting techniques depending on their prey. Some common hunting strategies include:
1. Cooperative Hunting: Orcas often hunt in coordinated groups called pods. They work together to corral prey, such as fish or marine mammals, into a confined area where they can more easily catch them.
2. Stealth Hunting: Orcas may also employ stealth tactics, silently approaching their prey from below to surprise them before making a sudden attack.
3. Wash: In this technique, orcas create waves to knock seals or sea lions off ice floes or haul-out sites, making them easier to capture.
4. Tail Slaps: As mentioned earlier.

The two largest land animals are the elephant and the rhino, with elephants growing to be as much as 15,000lbs and rhinos 7,900lbs.
Credits @ hunty.es
📸 @chekawild
Videos of confrontations between the two show some fighting with the tusks and horn, but the elephant’s main goal was to try to knock the rhino over and then be able to crush it, damaging vital organs. The rhino tried to maintain its balance and defend itself with its horn. A strategically placed blow with its horn could significantly injure an elephant. But, the video makes it clear that the sheer size of the elephant would probably overtake most rhinos.
African bush elephant is a very powerful opponent too and will hold its ground. However, if the White Rhinoceros can go below the belly of the elephant and pierce it there then it will be hard for the African Bush Elephant to recover.
The rhinoceros skin is much harder as compared to that of the African bush elephant. Hence, even though the African Bush Elephant will try to crush the rhino with its 5.5-ton feet, it will be difficult for it due to the agility of the Rhino.

Lions, tigers, leopards, wolves and virtually every other carnivore have a strong preference for the navel of the belly and entrails. They do this to absorb nutrients from the intestines which contain plant material they are unable to digest. Organs are more prized among these predators than meat.

There are only 7500 wild cheetah left in the wild in the world of which Namibia has proudly 3500 cheetah. Cheetah like Quasa live up to 20 years due to good care and a non stressful life. Lions live in arid grasslands and savannas. Some just liked the way it sounded (because let’s face it, it sounds good ) and put it on the lion instead of the rightful owner of this title, the mighty jag.
In a genuine attempt to keep things completely fair, the title was certainly created well before we were able to watch a 200lb meat seeking missile leap off the top rope and grease a caiman in 4k. If they had phones back then, I’m almost positive the lion would have a different moniker than this one that belongs to our friend here.
The only big cat that might challenge the jaguar for the title would be the tiger, but that’s a conversation for a different day.

Follow👉IG @bigcatsnamibia Now! Surprise at the End - Savage ! Lions can hunt down different kinds of prey, which means that warthogs sometimes end up on a lion’s menu whenever it gets a chance. Lions are simple creatures, and they will eat any type of meat as long as it is fresh without any complaints. So lions would happily tuck into a warthog if they could hunt one down.
Credits @michael.laubscher
📸 @khalidebrahim_
However, lions don’t often aim for warthogs when they go hunt for mainly two reasons.
Firstly, warthogs are fearless in fighting back. One of the characteristics of lions is that they don’t prefer to hunt animals that fight back. This is the reason animals like large elephants or hippopotamuses are not their preferred prey. Even the giants, the giraffes, have powerful kicks.
Warthogs have an advantage, tusks on their heads that are capable of gutting a lion if they attack. So, when faced with a fight with a warthog, the lion thinks that the prey (warthog) is not worth it and heads off to find their dinner somewhere else.
But the lion will most likely bring it down whenever a warthog does not make a stand. In most cases, the warthog will choose to fight back at some point; that is why you don’t see a lion often eating a warthog even though they consider them as a potential source of food.

One way to think of Cape buffaloes is that they’re the brawny socialites of the African plains, hanging out in enormous herds. These herds will signal each other of danger and coordinate the right response when things go south. Whether the plan is to retreat or charge at full speed, as seen in the video below, their solo power is definitely a force to be reckoned with – get several buffaloes involved, and it’s bad news for their opponent!
The horns of the cape buffalo are also a powerful defense mechanism. When threatened, the buffalo will charge at the predator and use their horns to push or stab them. They are very powerful and can easily injure or even kill an attacking predator.

In some cases, the extent of dietary overlap can be as high as 68.8%. Lions typically ignore spotted hyenas, unless they are on a kill or are being harassed by them. There exists a common misconception that hyenas steal kills from lions, but most often it is the other way around, and lions will readily steal the kills of spotted hyenas. In the Ngorongoro Crater, it is common for lions to subsist largely on kills stolen from hyenas. Lions are quick to follow the calls of hyenas feeding, a fact demonstrated by field experiments, during which lions repeatedly approached whenever the tape-recorded calls of hyenas feeding were played.
When confronted on a kill by lions, spotted hyenas will either leave or wait patiently at a distance of 30–100 metres until the lions have finished eating. In some cases, spotted hyenas are bold enough to feed alongside lions, and may occasionally force lions off a kill. This mostly occurs during the nighttime, when hyenas are bolder. Spotted hyenas usually prevail against groups of lionesses unaccompanied by males if they outnumber them 4:1. In some instances they were seen to have taken on and routed two pride males while outnumbering them 5:1.

Lions are not above scavenging a kill, especially one that can potentially feed their entire pride for a long time. Easy meals are very few and far between out here, so when the opportunity arises, you can bet that the fat of the land will be taken care of.

Cheetahs are usually easily intimidated by hyenas, and put up little resistance, while leopards, particularly males, may stand up to hyenas. There are records of some male leopards preying on hyenas. Hyenas are nonetheless dangerous opponents for leopards; there is at least one record of a young adult male leopard dying from a sepsis infection caused by wounds inflicted by a spotted hyena. There is also a case of two spotted hyenas killing and eating a young male leopard in Timbavati Game Reserve, apparently in revenge after a young hyena was killed by the leopard.
