The cheetah typically stalks its prey within 60–100 m (200–330 ft) before charging towards it, trips it during the chase and bites its throat to suffocate it to death.
The lunar cycle can also influence the cheetah’s routine—activity might increase on moonlit nights as prey can be sighted easily, though this comes with the danger of encountering larger predators. Hunting is the major activity throughout the day, with peaks during dawn and dusk.
In Namibia cheetahs are the major predators of livestock. Therefore farmers shoot cheetah to protect their livestock hence the increase of orphan cheetah being raised. Can you help protect and save the cheetah for future generations to enjoy.

Follow👉IG @bigcatsnamibia Now ! Therefore, crocodiles are predators and hippos are effectively prey so how come they lie next to each other in peace around a waterhole?
Credits @andrewdanckwerts
The reality is that given half a chance a crocodile would attack and feed on a hippo but they do not because of just how dangerous a hippo can be.
An adult hippo needs only to open it’ mouth wide and reveal its mean-looking modified incisors or tusks to drive home this point, and combined with its size and tough skin they are not an easy target. The average sized adult crocodile is no match for the average sized adult hippo, and considering that hippos are often found in pods with numerous other adults it’s not worth it for a crocodile to even go after a young hippo because of what the protective adults could do to it.
Normally, crocodiles eat hippo calves, and hippos will usually only play within their species. Therefore crocodiles have the instict to attack hippos. Crocodiles only feed on hippos which are already dead. However when it comes to grown hippos, size matter.

Leopard vs Hyena - Who Will Win ?
A leopard would win a fight against a hyena. The big cat is too skilled and deadly for the hyena to beat in a fight.
Credits @simon_kilevo
Hyenas are used to fighting with backup in the form of their pack mates. However, they would come into this fight alone, putting them at an instant disadvantage.
Meanwhile, leopards live, hunt, and fight alone. Moreover, they take down big prey all by themselves. If the leopard was allowed to ambush the hyena, the fight would be over in seconds with the leopard’s mouth around its enemy’s neck.
On an even playing field, the leopard and hyena would likely test the other’s limits, going in for a bite or two. The leopard doesn’t just rely on its teeth, though. The cat would use its claws to slash at the hyena, causing pain and perhaps making the creature recoil. The leopard needs a brief opening to bite the head or go for the neck, which is exactly what it would do in a close-range fight like this.
Eventually, the leopard will use its speed, agility, and experience to break through the hyena’s defenses and land a fatal bite. Sure, the hyena might give as good as it gets so that the leopard could take some damage. In the end, though, the leopard wins.

Sable antelope are known for their ability to defend themselves from predators like lions. By using their horns and sharp, pointed hooves, they can gravely wound both predators and other sable. Female sable are especially aggressive and, as a result, there is a female hierarchy system based on seniority.
Lions seldom attack adults, because of their size and the formidable fighting abilities of these antelope. Humans are the only real threat to adult sable antelope and their populations. Young are susceptible to predation by lions, leopards, hyenas, African hunting dogs and crocodiles.

Credits @christianbrunskill
Jaguars are good swimmers and play and hunt in the water, possibly more than tigers. They have been recorded moving between islands and the shore. Jaguars are also good at climbing trees but do so less often than cougars.
It kills capybara by piercing its canine teeth through the temporal bones of its skull, breaking its zygomatic arch and mandible and penetrating its brain, often through the ears. It has been hypothesized to be an adaptation to cracking open turtle shells; armored reptiles may have formed an abundant prey base for the jaguar following the late Pleistocene extinctions. However, this is disputed, as even in areas where jaguars prey on reptiles, they are still taken relatively infrequently compared to mammals in spite of their greater abundance.
The ambush may include leaping into water after prey, as a jaguar is quite capable of carrying a large kill while swimming; its strength is such that carcasses as large as a heifer can be hauled up a tree to avoid flood levels. After killing prey, the jaguar will drag the carcass to a thicket or other secluded spot. It begins eating at the neck and chest. The heart and lungs are consumed, followed by the shoulders.

Females are smaller, more agile, and stealthier than males, making them more effective for the coordinated hunting strategies required to take down prey.
Males, on the other hand, are bulkier and more conspicuous (their mane makes them easier to spot). They are better suited for territory defense and deterring rival prides or predators.
By working in groups, female lions can successfully hunt larger animals, ensuring the pride’s survival. Their hunting prowess not only feeds the pride, including the non-hunting males and cubs, but also teaches the younger generations vital survival skills.

Sometimes, they prey on larger elephants and successfully put them down. Recordings show that the pride of up to 30 lions would kill an elephant every three days.
Seeing their hunting behavior and target prey, it is surprising to learn that lions can hunt elephants. Elephants are the world’s largest mammal on land, and while they can satisfy a pride of lions on the hunt, their immense power and build is their defense.
The lions will isolate an individual and go for the kill.
They surround it, and each member of the pride takes a hit. Keep in mind that the lions mostly go for young or weak. Furthermore, it’s the lionesses that do the hunting. The males may occasionally join the hunt, especially if the prey is big. They eat the carcass as a pride and may have leftovers for the future.

Like a misplaced star in an unfamiliar constellation, this crocodile finds it has become the absolute center of the wrong kind of attention.

While crocodiles are certifiably lethal in the water, their prowess diminishes the moment they step onto land. Hindered by limited agility, they find themselves at the mercy of whatever fate the land has in store until they can return to their preferred domain.
While it may seem counterintuitive for an aquatic powerhouse like the Nile crocodile to leave its water-bound sanctuary, the reasons are rooted in biological necessities. For starters, these reptiles rely on basking in the sun to regulate their body temperature, as they are ectothermic and can’t generate internal heat.
Sunning themselves on land also helps to kill off parasites and algae that may cling to their scales. Additionally, adult crocodiles often travel overland in search of new territories or mates, especially during the breeding season. Juveniles may do the same to avoid being preyed upon by larger, more dominant crocs.
This one just happened to be in the wrong place at the worst possible time.

Baboons have occasionally been recorded as part of the African wild dog’s diet however, as far as we are aware, observations of hunts on this prey species have never been described. Although baboon lies within their preferred prey body mass range, African wild dogs seem to actively avoid predation on this dangerous prey species.

Follow👉IG @bigcatsnamibia Now! Don’t Regret It !!!Pumas, AKA mountain lions, are apex predators and are known for their strength and agility. They are capable of taking down prey much larger than themselves, which includes animals like the guanaco. These large beasts are a type of camelid, closely related to the domesticated llama. They are well adapted to the harsh environment they exist in, be it the high altitudes of the Andes or the barren plains of Patagonia.
Credits @kazem12000
📸 @christianbrunskill
Guanacos have evolved several strategies to survive in the face of predators. They are known to be able to run at speeds of up to 56 km/h (35 mph), which can help them escape from predators in many situations. They can also use their strong necks and heads to deliver powerful blows, or swing a puma around in an attempt to break the cat’s stranglehold as you can see from the video above.
Mountain lions are experienced and tenacious hunters. They employ a stealth approach, preferring to ambush their prey and aim for the neck, where they can inflict a critical bite that crushes the windpipe, severs the spinal cord, or suffocates the prey.
In the end, the puma outlasts the guanaco and secures a massive win against an opponent that is at least twice her size.
