Around 16th century Himba people crossed to Namibia from Angola, settling in Kaokoland (Kunene) as part of Herero tribe. The Himba, or Ovahimba, are are one of the 13th indigenous group peoples the new Namibia with an estimated population of about 55,000 living mostly in the Kunene Region (formerly Kaokoland) northern part of Namibia and on the other side of the Kunene River in Angola. The Himba are a semi-nomadic and retain a traditional life in a semi arid region. Himba are remarkably famous for covering themselves with otjize paste, a cosmetic mixture of butterfat and ochre pigment, to cleanse the skin over long periods due to water scarcity and protect themselves from the extremely hot and dry climate of the Kaokoland as well as against mosquito insect bites.

Ondonga is a traditional kingdom of the Aandonga people from northern Namibia. We speak the Ndonga dialect. The nation capital is Ondangwa, and the kingdom's palace is at Onambango. The Ondonga kingdom is ruled by an Omukwaniilwa (king), assisted by a council of elders, the Ondonga Traditional Authority. The current King Fillemon Shuumbwa Nangolo was crowned 👑 in the 2019, After the death of king Immanuel Kauluma Elifas ruled the Ondonga nation for 42 years. King Nangolo is the 18th legitimate king of the Ondonga people, the crowning on 29 June 2019 was a historical event that attracted thousands of people all corners of Namibia . What an honor it was to visit the Ondonga Royal Palace recently as guests of the King wife Queen Adelheid Gustaf .

A special time after it rained 🌧 in the Namib Desert. The Namib is the oldest and one of the largest deserts in the world 🌎 , the Namib stretches inland from the Atlantic Ocean, covering large swathes of Namibia and parts of Angola and South Africa. This arid hotspot surprisingly supports a diverse number of plants and animals, some of which are found nowhere else in the world.
