We are very excited after a lot of demand to release one more itinerary for next year

This is an itinerary we have considered very carefully and it is with great excitement that we launch the first dates of our new Iconic Namibia itinerary.

We have been doing the classic southern Namibian circuit for many years and it has been a pleasure helping so many people capture our favourite places like Quiver Tree Forest and Kolmanskop. It is however time for change; Namibia has many new and exciting photographic frontiers and we want to renew both our own and our clients' wanderlust and inspiration.

We put our many years of local Namibian experience together and arrived at this itinerary.
Our top priority when making this Iconic itinerary was 1, to add more wildlife, both iconic and lesser known and 2, to show our guests more of Namibias incredible landscapes.

On this safari, in addition to the icon of the desert, Sossusvlei, much of what we do at the coast is wildlife oriented. Swakopmund offers the incredible experiences of the living desert, flamingoes and pelicans. After that we have two dedicated nights in pursuit of the desert elephants of the Huab River and then 4 nights to capture the best of Etosha.
The pace is slower - we visit fewer places and have longer stays at each, with 3 x 3-night stays on the safari. This prevents burn-out and provides a more in-depth connection to the best destinations.

It is our belief that these changes will provide a more unique, more productive and more enjoyable experience of our favourite African safari destination. It is a safari that covers the gems of Namibia, providing amazing insight into one of the most scenic and photogenic countries in Africa.

This webpage offers you a glimpse of the safari. For the full details of the safari with a day to day itinerary, full logistics, details of accommodation and a comprehensive list of what is included and excluded, please download the full brochure.

The massive sand walls of the biggest dunes in the world at Sossusvlei, Namibia. Here the first light of day picks out the ridges in the sand, which was also being whipped across the face of the dune by a strong wind (hence the super fast shutter speed).

Waking up early in Sossusvlei is hyper beneficial for a photographer. The chances of there always being mist is slim but there is always a possibility. Then, you’ve got that early morning sun light casting soft shadows, this if you don’t know, is what photographers live for, soft light and shadows. Keep in mind that composition plays the biggest role in landscape photography. Before taking any photos, scout the area without damaging (footprints) your foreground. On our photographic tours we have a professional photo guide who will help you as well as share some of his local knowledge with you for the best outcome for your photos.

Hovering above the Walvis Bay Salt Pans indeed provides a unique opportunity to capture stunning aerial photographs. The salt pans in Walvis Bay, Namibia, are known for their breathtaking patterns and colors, and these make for fantastic subjects for aerial photography. Here are some aspects that make these salt pans a great location for aerial photography:

Geometric Patterns:
The salt pans are divided into a grid-like pattern, which creates a mesmerizing geometric pattern from above. The stark contrast between the white salt and the surrounding desert landscape adds to the visual appeal.

Vibrant Colors:
Depending on the time of day and the angle of the sun, the salt pans can take on various shades of white, pink, and orange. These changing colors provide photographers with a dynamic and ever-evolving canvas to work with.
Natural Textures:
The salt crust itself presents interesting textures that can be highlighted in your aerial shots. The patterns and cracks on the salt surface add depth and character to your photographs.
Contrast with Surroundings:
The salt pans are situated in the midst of the desert, creating a stark contrast between the white, salty landscape and the arid, sandy surroundings. This contrast can make for striking compositions in your aerial photos.
Changing Tides:
Walvis Bay is also known for its tidal movements, and this can result in interesting changes in the appearance of the salt pans. Timing your photography to capture the pans at high tide or low tide can yield different and captivating results.
Abstract Art:
Aerial photography of the salt pans can transform the landscape into abstract art. By focusing on specific patterns or features, you can create images that are both visually captivating and thought-provoking.

When planning an aerial photography session over the Walvis Bay Salt Pans, it's essential to consider factors such as lighting, weather conditions, and the equipment you'll use. Aerial photography can yield breathtaking results, but careful planning and creative vision are key to capturing the most amazing shots of this unique natural wonder.

When encountering these gentle giants, it’s important to be cautious and respectful whilst photographing these majestic creatures. Keep a safe distance and let them roam freely. There have been numerous fatal/severely injured incidents due to guides / self-driven vehicles pushing their limits trying to get closer for a better photo or view. We are unfamiliar visitors in their territories, respect their space and admire from a distance.

Photo Tip Tuesday!
Balance is arguably the master of all the rules. It is the one that all the others have to adhere to. If you include more dominant elements on one side of the frame than on the other side, then the composition will feel unbalanced.
Most people have an inherent sense of visual balance and many images are quite easy to balance, but some images can be quite challenging. The easiest way to determine the balance of an image is to consciously assign a visual weight to each element. Although a rock might be physically heavier than a cloud, its weight within the composition will depend primarily on 4 things.
• Relative size
• Brightness
• Distance from the camera
• Distance to the edge of the frame
Darker objects always feel heavier than bright objects, distant objects always feel lighter than objects which are closer to the camera, and an object that is close to the edge of the frame will always feel heavier than one which is further away from the edge.
