PRESIDENT GEINGOB AVOIDS LOCK DOWN

President Hage Geingob has adopted a soft approach to the fourth wave of Covid-19 by not locking down the country, but rather put in a raft of measures to try and contain the situation.

Below are some of the changes:

Crowds reduced from 500 to 200. (This number applicable to people at events and burials).

Government will not implement a curfew; however, it encourages the correct wearing of masks.

1 million masks will be made available to public transport operators.

Trading hours for sale of alcohol unchanged, but can be revisited if rate of infections becomes overwhelming.

Vaccine passports may be requested upon entry to a bar or drinking establishment.

The validity of PCR tests reduced to 72 hours from the time results are produced to the time travelers arrive in Namibia.

Namibians coming with positive PCR results subjected isolation.

Namibians and permit holders may enter without the 72 hour PCR test, those who arrive without PCR negative results to be subjected to quarantine.

Tests for people at ports of entry will be conducted.
