When in Walvis Bay, how could you choose to see Seals and Flamingos any other way than from a Kayak. A flamboyance of Greater Flamingos taking advantage of the nutrient rich sand banks at Pelican Point. Even the young seal pup is admiring them. So many sunny mornings in September :)

Young seal pups born in November 2023 are nearing the weaning age now. Soon these pups will learn to catch their own fish and mom will stop giving them milk as she prepares to give birth to her next pup in November. That’s a year of fun and games and milk when they want it.

Breeding season has arrived for the Cape fur seals, mothers have started to give birth to the cutest little bundles of fur seal pups. For the first week mom and pup needs to build a strong relationship to recognize each others smell and sound amongst tens of thousands of seals so that when mom goes fishing she can find Phillip when she returns. For the first 7 weeks seal pups spend their time on land thereafter it takes them another 7 weeks to learn how to swim. Difficult to believe when you see what amazing swimmers they are after a few months. It’s an indescribable feeling being in their natural environment and watching them interact undisturbed by anything. #2023

Seeing the Brown Hyena will make anyones trip to Namibia complete. These beautiful rare Hyenas are solitary and are distinguished by their unique markings on their legs and body. We have been lucky enough to see various individuals in the last few months.

Did someone say Pink Flamingo? Walvis Bay is the most important coastal wetlands in Southern Africa, home to over 250 000 birds. These lesser flamingos certainly are beautiful! Feeding mostly off bacteria and algae like spirulina they go really pink compared to their cousins the greater flamingos. Migrating to Botswana they spend about 6 months of the year here and 6 months there. When they're here we get spoilt by these beautiful birds every morning on our way to kayak at

Beautiful Jackal cub with parents. These lovely animals are often disliked by many people due to their intelligence, always managing to outsmart their prey. These three were spotted on the way to our Kayak tour this morning at Pelican Point.

What a week for seeing Dolphins! Look how curious these guys are. This big guy gave a lazy jump to see what we were doing on our Kayaks. Bottlenose Dolphins get up to 3.9m and 200kg in weight, we have around 80 of them in our Lagoon where we kayak, depending on where the fish are, thats where they are :) They really are phenominal animals. To get a chance to see these guys in action book a tour with us today. Providing the best Kayak tours at Pelican Point since 1997.

Enjoy an eco friendly seal kayak experience whilst you’re at the coast in Namibia. Is it a sheep? Is it a bear? Is it a dog ? They’re all pretty close :) it’s a cape fur seal calling for it mom. Our mums are about to give birth in the next couple of weeks and the teenagers are having to learn how to catch their own fish so no more milk from mommy :) #2021
