Meet Madiba 🐘

Madiba was named after the legendary late South African president Nelson Mandela whose clan name was Madiba.

The clan name represents a person’s ancestry and is used with affection and respect.

Madiba's mother, Mama Afrika also the herd’s matriarch, passed away naturally when he was only two years old. 💔

After many months of indecisiveness, the herd accepted Mathilda as their new matriarch.

Madiba was adopted almost immediately by Roo (M3) who had just lost her own newborn and still had milk ready to feed Madiba.

Together, they have created a beautiful bond, and Madiba has become a gentle and caring protector for his younger siblings. 🥰

We can't wait to see this wonderful young elephant grow and develop into a confident bull. 🐘💙

Cheetahs are not aggressive. During confrontation, the cheetah normally applies the flight mechanism as apposed to the fight mechanism. With its weak jaws and small teeth (the price is paid for speed) it cannot fight larger predators to protect its kill or its young….however a purrfect strike and the last word at a brother happens even in the best of families 😉
