On Friday, 06 December 2024, the Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) held its Annual Port Users & Stakeholders Dinner in Lüderitz, as a gesture of appreciation for the ongoing support of its dedicated partners. Highlights from Last Week at the Ports of Walvis Bay and Lüderitz!

Last week, both the Port of Walvis Bay and the Port of Lüderitz welcomed a steady stream of passenger liners, bringing more visitors to our shores. With the updated schedule for December and January, we’re excited to continue seeing increased vessel traffic, which positively impacts local tourism, hospitality, and economic growth.

This surge in activity creates new opportunities for the community, and we’re thrilled to see both ports grow as popular destinations for travelers from around the world!

Namibian Ports Authority Sponsors N$10.5 Million towards Namibia Football Association (NFA)’s Regional Football League

The Namibian Ports Authority [Namport] has partnered with the Namibia Football Association [NFA] as the main sponsor of the 2nd and 3rd Regional Divisions League games, which include both men’s and women’s football teams from all 14 political regions of Namibia.

The event, now called the "Namport Regional Football League," aligns with our corporate values and strategic objectives. The partnership announcement, made by Andrew Kanime, CEO of Namport, involves a sponsorship of N$3.5 million annually for a period of three (3) years, totaling N$10.5 million. This initiative aims to promote the development of young men and women through the sport of football. It goes beyond financial support, reflecting Namport's dedication to nurturing talent at the grassroots level.

On his part, the President of the NFA, Mr. Robert Shimooshili, expressed appreciation for the confidence and trust that Namibian Ports Authority has shown in the NFA, its Executive Council, management, and staff at the Football House to manage this investment of N$3.5 million for youth football development. He added that 336 clubs in the Regional Second Division (men and women) and 504 Third Division teams (36 teams per region) will primarily benefit. More than 6,120 players are set to compete for the top honors of the NamPort Football Award.

Next week, we’ll have a passenger liner 6 days a week, bringing even more passenger vessels to visit the Port of Walvis Bay. Increased vessel traffic has a significant positive impact on the local economy and community. More passenger vessels mean more tourists, which boosts hospitality, retail, and service industries. It also creates job opportunities and fosters economic growth in the region. As Walvis Bay becomes a more popular destination, we’re thrilled to witness the continued growth and development of our port and the surrounding area.

The season officially started on 4th November, and we’re excited to welcome travelers from all over the world to our stunning shores! 🏖️✨

Namport Captain Lukas Kufuna held a successful plaque exchange today with the Captain of Mein Schiff 6, following its Maiden Call at the Port of Walvis Bay yesterday.

🚢✨ At 295 meters in length and with 15 decks, Mein Schiff 6 has a capacity for 2,534 passengers. 90% of the cabins offer stunning ocean views, and 82% feature private balconies.

🌊🌟 The ship is set to depart today for South Africa.

Today, 24th November, we were delighted to welcome Mein Schiff 6 at 05:30 and Norwegian Dawn at 07:00 into the Port of Walvis Bay. Passengers are disembarking to explore our local attractions, supporting businesses and enriching the community.

The passenger vessel season for November and December is in full swing, and we’re eagerly anticipating more remarkable journeys and travelers this season! ⚓️✨
