DISCOVER THE HISTORICAL OTJIKOTO LAKE! 🌊

, one of only two permanent natural lakes in Namibia, is a true marvel and was declared a national monument in 1972 🤩

Its name translates to "deep hole" in Otjiherero - a fitting name, hey? Especially given its impressive depth of around 91 meters.

BUT THERE'S MORE: during WWI, the German Schutztruppe used the lake as a secret dumping ground. In June 1915, they disposed of war materials here before surrendering - keeping them out of enemy hands! 😮 *cue the ooohs + aaahs*
