Namibia’s black rhinos are nothing short of extraordinary - these magnificent creatures are one of the world’s last truly wild rhino populations. 🦏

Their survival is largely thanks to the relentless efforts of Save the Rhino Trust Namibia (SRT), which has been safeguarding these creatures since 1982. SRT's dedicated trackers, hailing from local communities, patrol over 25,000 km² of rugged terrain to monitor and protect these rhinos.

Did you know that unlike white rhinos, black rhinos are actually browsers, not grazers? Their pointed upper lip helps them pick leaves and twigs from bushes and trees, a skill that sets them apart in the animal kingdom.

Update from Hildegard’s adventure:

This morning at Doro Nawas was nothing short of magical!🐘

During a nature drive in the Aba-Huab Riverbed, I had the privilege of meeting Oscar, a magnificent desert-adapted elephant, in his mid 50s. This gentle giant strolled past the vehicle with such grace, it’s a moment I’ll never forget.

A big thank you to our guide, Ronaldo, for making this incredible experience possible.

Travel experience both within the Southern African region and abroad would be an advantage but is not a necessity.

The successful candidate will be working with our overseas agents as well as direct guests and must be able to work independently and under pressure, as well as part of our team. Our consultants are required to assist with guest meet & greets after hours and over some weekends and will be on weekend duty once every +/- 4 or 5 weeks. For this reason, the successful candidate must live within Windhoek city boundaries. A very competitive package is offered, including commission, pension, medical aid, and other perks.

Hildegard’s first educational trip as ATI’s Marketing Manager kicked off at Ongava Lodge - and what a start!

Here’s what she had to say:

The lodge is just incredible. Perched on a hill, it offers amazing views of the reserve and the waterhole; you can literally enjoy dinner while watching wildlife wander in for a drink.

The rooms? Spacious, spotless, and so comfortable. My room overlooked the waterhole, so I was able to keep track of all the action.

The rainy season has transformed the landscape into a lush, green paradise (at least for Namibia). I’ve never seen this part of Namibia so vibrant! While the rain makes wildlife a bit harder to spot, Ongava makes up for it; what I missed in Etosha, I was able see at the Ongava Reserve itself.

And the best part? Coming back from a game drive to a warm welcome and cocktails. That’s the kind of detail that sticks with you.

Safe to say that no one wanted to get out of the car 👀 This was at Okonjima, where one of the collared leopards came to greet.

Okonjima is home to the AfriCat Foundation, established to protect cheetahs and leopards from human-wildlife conflict. Their mission has since expanded to include all of Namibia's wildlife, recognizing that 'cat' conservation is intertwined with protecting wildlife habitats.

A big thank you to all our friends & agents who joined David late last month for the UK’s, Namibian road show. Supported by the NTB, and a cast of top lodge and accommodation offerings, they provided an engaging evening of all things Namibian, sharing what’s new, trending and happening in tourism across our beautiful country! The tour headed from London to Manchester and up to bonnie Edinburgh, with the fantastic prize of a self-drive holiday being offered at each evening event, with the accommodation, cars and flights, all kindly donated by the travelling team.
