Great cheetah sighting in the Etosha National Park. The cheetah can run faster than any other land mammal and can reach a speed of more than 100 km/h over a short distance. The cheetah’s entire body is built for speed, enabling this supreme sprinter to accelerate from 0 to 70 km/h in two seconds.

Fascinating African Wildlife
The elephant’s trunk can weigh as much as 135 kg. The trunk is so strong that an elephant can use it to pick up objects weighing as much as 275 kg or push over large trees. The trunk ends in two very sensitive tips which can be used to even pick up a small blade of grass.

Towering red dunes, a shimmering white pan and ancient black camel thorn trees, this is Deadvlei in the Namib desert. The clay pan was formed after rainfall, when the Tsauchab river flooded the area and the abundance of water allowed camel thorn trees to grow. However, the climate changed, and the sand dunes encroached on the pan, blocking the river from reaching the area. The remaining skeletons of the trees are now black because the intense sun has scorched them. Though not petrified, the wood does not decompose due to the dry climate. The trees are estimated to be approximately 850 years old. The dunes surrounding Deadvlei add to the impressive sight, as they reach up to 350 meters. Deadvlei is situated close to Sossusvlei. The marvelous beauty of the Vlei amply rewords those who journey there.
