Uncovering the truth behind the Victoria Falls Low Water Season
There’s been a lot of online buzz about Victoria Falls 'running dry' this year, so we’re here to set the record straight. The Falls are currently in their annual low-water season, which typically runs from August to January.

This year, water levels are lower than average due to reduced rainfall in the catchment area, influenced by a recent El Niño-driven drought. Visitors to the Zimbabwean side will still enjoy significant flow across three main channels, while reduced flow on the Zambian side, which sits at a higher elevation, is normal for this season.

However, as one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders, the Victoria Falls has a lesser-known side that emerges when the waters of the Zambezi River recede…

Unique Activities Unlocked by Low Water Levels

World-Class White-Water Rafting
Regarded as the world’s best one-day white-water rafting trip, the Zambezi River below the Victoria Falls offers adrenaline-packed adventures, especially prominent during the low water season. The reduced water levels expose more rapids, increasing the intensity and excitement of the rafting experience. Rapids with names like “The Terminator,” “Oblivion,” and “The Devil’s Toilet Bowl” hint at the thrilling experience awaiting adventurers.

Cheetahs are the world’s fastest land animals, capable of reaching mind-blowing speeds of up to 110 km/h. They’re built for speed—slim, sleek, and designed to sprint! How to Spot a Cheetah:

Slender & Lightweight: They have a long, lean body that helps them run like the wind.

Solid Black Spots: Unlike leopards, cheetahs sport solid black spots.
"Tear Marks": Those iconic black lines running from their eyes to their mouth help reduce glare while hunting in the sunshine.

Long Legs: Perfect for those explosive short sprints.
Flat Tail: Works like a steering wheel to help them change direction fast while hunting.

You’ll likely see cheetahs during the day in Namibia’s open grasslands, like the famous Etosha National Park.

Leopard: The Master of Stealth 🐾

A'Zambzi River Lodge...our next overnight.... It is on the Zambezi River so at night you have Hippos roaming the garden which is a great experience to see them so close... Unfortunately the boats block the view of the river and the hotel is in need of attention, especially the restaurant and main areas.. Not our preffered property as I think they more for groups... There is a shuttle that takes you to the falls every 30min which is a plus, but a little far out.

Next stop the lovely Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, Safari Club and Safari Suites...
