A serene walk through the forest around the lodge, dotted with enchanting wooden statues of the forest’s noble protectors, set a magical tone for the day.

After a delicious breakfast, we made our way to the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. The park is a complex of protected areas made up of the Mantadia National Park and the Analamazaotra Special Reserve. This 15,480 ha park is home to about 14 species of lemurs - so we got ready for a 3 hour hike,

Guided by local experts, we immersed ourselves in the beauty of the forest while learning about its fascinating inhabitants—the lemurs.

📌 Hike Highlights:
🐒 Hearing the hauntingly beautiful calls of the Indri Indri—a sound so unique and otherworldly, it’s unforgettable.
🐒 Watching a baby Indri practice its leaps between trees, gaining confidence with every jump—it was pure magic.
🐒 Discovering how lemur families share their space: Indri Indris guard their territories fiercely but coexist with bamboo and brown lemurs, thanks to their different diets.

After the hike, we embarked on a long journey to Manambato.

The 132 km drive took 5 hours over challenging roads, but the views along the way kept us captivated.
From bustling villages to dense forests, and the hum of daily life all around, the journey was an adventure in itself.

Upon arriving in Manambato, our adventure continued as we boarded a boat at sunset for a 1.5-hour ride to Palmarium Lodge.

The tranquil waters and fading light created a serene atmosphere, the perfect prelude to our arrival.

The Palmarium Lodge welcomed us with rustic charm, friendly staff, and a refreshing breeze from the lake.

After dinner it was time to retire as all were exhausted. Falling asleep in my cozy wooden chalet, lulled by the distant calls of lemurs, was the perfect end to an extraordinary day.
