While Canadians should continue to avoid non-essential travel worldwide, the Government of Canada is working with provinces and territories to develop a secure standard for proof of vaccination.

Using a proof of vaccination will provide foreign border officials with the vaccination history needed to assess whether a traveller meets their public health requirements. It will also provide a trusted and verifiable credential for when Canadians return home.

Currently, travellers must submit their provincial or territorial proof of vaccination in ArriveCAN when coming to Canada if they want to qualify for the fully vaccinated traveller exemptions. Use ArriveCAN to provide mandatory travel information before and after your entry into Canada: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/coronavirus-disease-covid-19/arrivecan.html

We are continuing to engage with Indigenous partners across the country to ensure that a proof of vaccination credential responds to the needs and rights of Indigenous peoples.

We encourage everyone who is able to do so to get vaccinated. It provides individuals with substantial protection against the virus.
