3. Wear comfortable clothing
What you wear on your flight is so vital. Dressing in layers is key because you can quickly adapt to the plane’s temperature. I suggest in layers since you can never know what the temperature will be like. Plus, you are traveling for hours, so my guess is, the climate in the location you are going to will be different than the one you left. The best long haul travel outfit to me is loose-fitting long sleeve t-shirt, a cardigan, and a scarf that can also be used as a blanket if it gets really cold. Layers!

Wear shoes you can slip on and off easily, for long haul flight comfort and ease at the security line. Also, when you’re getting up to go to the bathroom or just walk around, you’ll want something you can easily slip your feet into and go.

On long haul flights you will most likely cross several time zones, the thing that leads to jetlag. But how to avoid jetlag? Once you are ON THE PLANE adapt to the local time in your destination straight away. Change the time on your phone so you don’t have to work out the time differences to help you.

See what time you will arrive at your destination (in local time there): if you’ll land in the morning, sleep as much as you can on the flight so you’re ready to hit the ground running when you land, and will last until that evening.

If you will land at your destination in the evening, try not to sleep too much on the plane, as you want to have a good nights sleep when you land so that you wake up fresh the next morning without any sign of jetlag.

I’m not going to lie; I also love trying to take fantastic photos for my Instagram or just in general. So, of course, I am happy to know about cool photo spots around the world.
However, while that’s fine, it should never be your sole purpose for travelling because you saw it on some popular influencer feed and thought, “wow, I want to do this”. It’s not rare nowadays to see people travelling solely to get a perfect shot for their Instagram feeds.

We often hear crazy stories about people going into debt to afford to travel to those popular locations we see on Instagram for the sole purpose of taking a shot and pretending to have a polished life, which is sad. I think it’s unfortunate because travelling only seems to be a way of getting more likes and acts that you have some polished life for some. It’s like there’s nothing more to the destination than just some pretty instagrammable spots. It’s all smoke and mirrors.

Yes, you might get inspired from Instagram to visit a place; there’s nothing wrong with this, as I said above, BUT it should never be your primary reason to want to see a place. Please do it for the beauty of the view, nature (unedited), the culture, the food, the experiences you can get there.

Those are the things that make a journey unforgettable and help you grow up as a person. Not any polished Instagram photos, no matter how pretty they are or how many likes you think they will bring you.

Emergencies aren’t the kind of things you want to be thinking about when you’re in the middle of planning your holidays.

You have to think about the possibility of something going south and have your back covered, which is also why we covered the insurance part above.

7. DON’T TRAVEL WITHOUT A TRAVEL INSURANCE

Yes, the not so glamorous and fun part of travel. Travel Insurance or any insurance that can ensure you and your belonging if you ever run into trouble, i.e. got stolen, lost something or worse, end up in a hospital and need to cover a medical bill.

However, no matter how careful you may be, at times we noticed things going south for people, i.e. lost wallet, lost ID, being stolen or breaking gears. And that’s not fun at all.

Of course, after buying local pieces comes local cuisine! There are so many different countries with so many different kinds of cuisine to try worldwide.

Discovering new dishes is one of great thing to do whenever you travel.

Sure, some country’s typical dishes might not suit your diet or sound weird to you. And that’s fine as long as you’re respectable of it, you have to keep in mind that what’s the norm in your country might not be the norm in another place of the world.

And that’s what’s so interesting about it; it’s your chance to discover new flavours, new textures prepared by locals that may not be experienced anywhere else in the world.

Another good thing about this is that you can take notes and redo the dishes you liked the most at home!
