Last week IRCC announced the implementation of The National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021 for immigration programs, including those under the Express Entry system. This allows Canada to welcome newcomers who bring the skills the economy needs to help address labor shortages.

This will help Canada attract global talent in high-demand sectors like healthcare, construction, and transportation including:
➡️ Nurse aides
➡️ Long-term care aides
➡️ Hospital attendants
➡️ Elementary and secondary school teacher assistants, and
➡️ Transport truck drivers.

Learn more about the sixteen occupations that can now benefit from expanded pathways to permanent residency:

Immigration is not just good for our communities and our economy. It is essential. That is why the Government of Canada is working to welcome newcomers who bring the skills our economy needs to help address acute labour shortages across the country.

The ADVANCE project will help build the capacity of potential candidates, promote gender-responsive legislative reforms, and leverage the platform.
Canada is proud to support efforts to raise the voice of women in political and legislative spaces in Nigeria, as we firmly believe that increased political participation by women will ultimately lead to increased prosperity, peace and security for all Nigerians

Update of travelling restrictions as of December 18th, 2021 at 11:59 PM EST:

Foreign nationals who have been in one of the 10 listed counties (including Nigeria) in the 14 days preceding their entry into Canada will no longer be explicitly prohibited entry into Canada by virtue of having been in one of the listed countries. Meaning, they are eligible to enter Canada if they meet the standard rules for entry for all fully vaccinated and not fully vaccinated foreign nationals.

Persons with a right of entry who have been in one of the 10 listed counties in the 14 days preceding their entry into Canada are no longer required to be referred to Public Health Agency of Canada officials and are now subject to the standard public health measures and enhanced public health measures linked to the Omicron variant.

The requirements for travelers who have been in, or travelled from, a country of concern within 14 days to obtain a valid negative pre-departure molecular test in a third country will also be lifted.

In summary, as of December 18, 2021 at 11:59PM EST persons who have been in one of the countries of concern are to be processed in the same manner as all other travelers.
