A father said to his daughter “You have graduated with honors, here is a Jeep I bought many years ago. It is pretty old now. But before I give it to you, take it to the used car lot downtown and tell them I want to sell it and see how much they offer you for it.”

The daughter went to the used car lot, returned to her father and said, “They offered me $1,000 because the said it looks pretty worn out.”

The father said, now “Take it to the pawn shop.” The daughter went to the pawn shop, returned to her father and said,”The pawn shop offered only $100 because it is an old Jeep.”

The father asked his daughter to go to a Jeep club now and show them the Jeep. The daughter then took the Jeep to the club, returned and told her father,” Some people in the club offered $100,000 for it because “it's an iconic Jeep and sought by many collectors.”

Now the father said this to his daughter, “The right place values you the right way,” If you are not valued, do not be angry, it means you are in the wrong place. Those who know your value are those who appreciate you......Never stay in a place where no one sees your value.

A violinist played for 45 minutes in a New York subway. A handful of people stopped, a couple clapped, and the violinist managed to raise about $30 in tips.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. In that subway, Joshua played one of the most intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth 3.5 million dollars.

Two days before he played in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston and the seats averaged about $100.
The experiment proved that the extraordinary in an ordinary environment does not shine and is so often overlooked and undervalued.

There are brilliantly talented people everywhere who aren’t receiving the recognition and reward they deserve. But once they arm themselves with value and confidence and remove themselves from an environment that isn’t serving them, they thrive and grow.

Your gut is telling you something. Listen to it if it’s telling you that where you are isn’t enough!

Go where you are appreciated and valued.

The late king of a certain community had ten wild dogs. He used them to torture and eat any of his servants who made a mistake. One of the servants gave an opinion that was wrong, and the king didn’t like it at all. So he ordered that the servant be thrown to the dogs.

The servant said, “I served you for ten years, and you do this to me? Please give me ten days before throwing me to those dogs!” The king agreed.
In those ten days, the servant went to the guard who looks after the dogs and told him he would like to serve the dogs for the next ten days. The guard was baffled but agreed, and the servant started feeding the dogs, cleaning for them, bathing them, and providing all sorts of comfort for them.

When the ten days were over, the king ordered that the servant be thrown to the dogs for his punishment. When he was thrown in, we were all amazed to see the ravenous dogs only licking the feet of the servant!

The king, baffled at what he was seeing, said,
”What has happened to my dogs?”
The servant replied, "I served the dogs for only ten days, and they didn’t forget my service. Yet I served you for a whole ten years and you forgot all, at my first mistake!"
The king realized his mistake and ordered the servant to be set free.

This post is a message to all those who forget the good things a person does for them as soon as the person makes a mistake towards them. Don’t put out the history that is filled with good because of a mistake you don’t like.

About 6 months ago, my neighbor asked us if we wouldn't mind sharing our Wi-Fi password. We decided to give it to him because it wouldn't cost us anything extra, and because we got along with him. Yesterday, as I was getting out of the car, the neighbor was at his door, getting ready to come outside. I stopped to talk a bit as he held the door open. He happily told me he now had Netflix. At that, jokingly I said: ′′I work hard, I barely have time to watch TV, but, if you could lend us your password to watch some shows, we'd appreciate it ". A voice was heard in the distance, inside the house. It was his wife, ′′We can't give the password to them, because I'm the one who pays the bill and I can't share it." The man apologized and I said it was no problem. We kept talking about other things, and as I left, he stayed working outside. When I happened to look outside a little while later, I noticed the man's wife come outside. She seemed very nervous and upset. They both went into the house. After a few minutes, he and his wife came to my door to tell me the Wi-Fi password wasn't working anymore. I looked at them and said, ′′ I changed my password, because it's me paying the bill and I can't share it ". The wife turned red and tried to say something, but I said, ′′Ma'am, I have my network and you have your Netflix, everything is fine and everyone is happy". They turned around and left. They never spoke to me again.

- Friendship must be mutual.
- Love must be mutual.
- Affection must be mutual.
In 2020 I intend to return silence with silence, absences with absences, affection with affection, friendship with friendship and loyalty with loyalty. No more one-sided feelings. Feelings must be mutual.

5 Ways To Make 2020 A Year Of Vision and Inner Clarity
Excited to usher in 2020? Ready to tackle new challenges and explore fresh opportunities? These 5 tools from Sadhguru will ensure that you meet 2020 with inner clarity and a 20/20 vision.

#1 Choose Three Things That Will Make You A Wonderful Human Being.

Everyone can strive to become a wonderful human being. No one can deny that to you. There is a simple process you can do for this. Write down three things that you think make a human being into a wonderful human being, and make them a reality in your life.
If you do not do what you want in your life, this will become a wasted life.
You do not have to do what someone else wants. Do what you want, do what you think is the highest. If you do not do what you want in your life, this will become a wasted life. Three things that you think will make a human being into a truly wonderful human being, make them a reality.

#2 Smile at Three Strangers
To bring light around you, make it a point to smile at at least three strangers on the street. Just give them a big smile. Please do this and bring some light to the world around you.

#3 Live Such That People Should Miss You When You Die
You may not be able to drop wholesale and at once, all your limitations, prejudices and the nonsense that people around you suffer. But you can start by dropping at least one. Please make some transformation happen so that when you live, people enjoy living with you, and when you die, they will miss you. That is how you should live. When you live, people should enjoy your presence. When you die they should miss you.

#4 Every Night, Sit On Your Deathbed
Time is slipping away for all of us at the same pace. You may think, “I went to the movie”, “I went shopping”, “I went on a holiday.” But as far as your body is concerned, it is going straight to the grave. With every step and every breath, your body is getting closer to the grave.

Look back at whether what you have done today is worthwhile.
This is not about becoming paranoid. If you are conscious that you are mortal, you will want to make the best out of this life. If you forget that you are mortal, you will start doing absurd things that do not mean anything.

Every night, do this simple exercise. Before you go to bed, sit on your bed and think this is your deathbed – you have just one more minute to live. Look back at whether what you have done today is worthwhile. “Today, the way I handled these twenty-four hours, is it worthwhile because now I am dying?” If you do this, you will live a worthwhile life.

#5 Loosen Up. Don’t Be So Dead Serious
Bertrand Russell once said that if you are beginning to think that what you are doing is very important, you need to take a holiday. You must take a holiday from your seriousness. Seriousness has essentially come because of your self-importance.

In this micro speck of a planet, the city you live in is a super-micro speck. In that, you are a big man! This is a serious problem of perspective.
But please understand, in this vast existence, you are like a speck of dust. In this vast cosmos, this solar system is a tiny speck. If the solar system disappears tomorrow, it will not even be noticed in the cosmos. In this tiny speck of a solar system, planet Earth is a micro speck. In this micro speck of a planet, the city you live in is a super-micro speck. In that, you are a big man! This is a serious problem of perspective.

Loosen your life up a little bit. Laugh a little more. Involve yourself with people around you. Do things that you think are not so important. Do not do things which are very important. Do simple things. It is very important you do simple things.

One reason why the whole world is not naturally spiritual is because they are dead serious about their lives. If they could relax a little more, if they could look feel life a little more joyfully, if they could see the joke that they are, then they would be able to see themselves and the situation around them a little more clearly. If you have a little more clarity about yourself and the world around you, that would naturally make you more capable in whatever you wish to do in the world.

17/01/2020

Some years back, it was the most beautiful house in this community. The owner was the richest man in whom all looked up to for support. The vehicle was a cynosure of all eyes. It was like a dream come true when the owner added both house and vehicle to his list of possession. But today, the properties have grown old and in fulfillment of the natural law, must collapse for a new house to develop.
Should anyone be found living inside this building as it stands now, such a person is labelled as "insane" and must be kept at arm's length.
Nothing in life is worth fighting for. Your best clothes is someone's rag. Your account balance is someone's donation at a function. Your girlfriend/ boyfriend/ fiance/ fiancée is someone's ex. Every single pr******te you see in a hotel or on the street at night was at some point in time a virgin. So what is the squabble all about? Life is too small to feel bigger or better than anybody.
"We are all naked to death," says Steve Jobs. Nothing can save us from it. I hate to see people who brag about wealth, beauty, intelligence, level of education, fame and material possessions. There is nothing you have achieved in life that no one else has never gotten. There is only one thing that is worth bragging, which is: "Life in God Almighty through our lord Jesus christ is the only life you need". So, be good to your fellow man and always make friends. Always remember that the people you trampled upon on your way up the ladder will be the same set of people you are likely to pass on your way down.
So, cause no problem for others because if you do, they will become your very problem one day. Finally, even banana stems will one day become dried leaves. So, don't be foolishly driven by material possession. It will soon grow old and die.

Happy New Year.

Thank You, MOE Teachers

This picture is that of a public school, not a private one. It depicts the new face of education in Bauchi State and portrays the renewed commitment of its teachers and educators to the suucess of their students.

No more loitering of students like before. No more principals calling teachers on phone to remind them of their periods. No more class monitors going out to call their teachers to lessons. Teachers can be seen patiently waiting on the corridors for their turn in the next period.

Wallahi, I never thought this level of commitment can be achieved in our public schools in less than 2 weeks. It is possible only because our people are naturally good hearted. They only need the leadership that will guide them to realizing their full potentials by appealing to their conscience, monitoring and registering their activities, appreciating their effort and acknowledging their work.

Thank you, our teachers. This picture from Government Day Secondary School Tilden Fulani has made me proud of you. Your turnout in all schools across the state has been fantastic. Continue and never relent.

Upstream

I understand that my function as Commissioner of Education is not only downstream - appealing to you and coercing you if need be - but also upstream. I am the bridge between you and government. I must convey your feelings to it and fight doggedly for your rights and those of our schools. I will fail if I do not carry out that function as effective as is humanly possible under our circumstance.

On this, I will ensure that government plays its part. The era of schools being abandoned to fend for themselves in mundane requirements like chalk, teacher texts and notebooks is over. A father has responsibilities beyond feeding his children. If he does not buy their clothes and pay their school fees - he has opened a gate for their truancy and prostitution. Likewise, governement must endeavour to provide some basic needs of learning in pubkic schools beyond paying salaries promptly. Otherwise, it would open the gates of corruption by administrators and extortion of parents. I will plead with the His Excellency, our Governor, to ensure that. Luckily, he is the Kauran Bauchi, who does not shy away from challenges. He will face this one head on. Sure.

I have already directed that the stores of Ministry be combed and every essential material be carted to schools. We have enough chalk to go round, for instance. What are these materials doing in the store? What we do not have we will press on government to provide immediately. I assure you the Governor will be willing to keep his own side of the bargain. Just continue to keep yours.

Promotions and Incentives

I also note from the complaints and suggestions which I have been receiving in the past three weeks since I reported on my desk that there have been pending cases of promotions. I assure you that this will be addressed as soon as our database in the Ministry is completed. However, as I told the Nigerian Union Teachers' congregation yesterday, not all staff may deserve promotion. Those that absconded from their duty posts and abandoned our children for no approved reasons do not deserve to be promoted, just like those whose godfathers gave them undeserved accelarated promotions while their hard working colleagues remain for ten or so years unattended. The system we are putting in place now and which we will complete in the next one week, God willing, will be egalitatian and will treat each according to his effort. There will be no godfather.

Digital Monitoring

Part of that effort is the high degree punctuality you are exhibiting now. By 10am every morning, the Ministry will be in a position to know who reported at his school and who did not. In a month time or so, we will be able to know by closing hours of every day the lessons that were missed in the entire state, in which school and by which teacher. The situation room is ready with brand new computers in place, waiting. This is even before the digitization of the whole process that will make much it easier.

Every activity of education administrators and teachers will be captured, analysed and used in appraising their performance, which in turn will form the only basis of their promotion, appointment and reward in form of prizes at the end of each academic year. I will not forget to say that those found wanting will be properly sanctioned accordingly.

So, our teachers, let us continue to be positive and hard working. We can plan and execute a great future for our younger ones today. The change of attitude exhibited by you already has reaffirmed the hope I have in you. I promise that you will always find me by your side, in every step we take on that path.

Thank you, our teachers. Thank you all.

Dr. Aliyu U. Tilde
COMMISSIONER
Ministry of Education
Bauchi.

*Christiano Ronaldo's* lesson!
When he received one of his awards recently, Ronaldo dedicated it to a certain ... Alberto Fantrau. Then said: "Yes I am a great footballer and all my success is due to my friend Alberto good heart"
People looked at one another and said, "Who is this Mr. Fantrau?"

Then Ronaldo went on: "We played together in a youth team. When Sporting of Lisbon recruiters came to observe us, they told us that the striker who scored the most goals will be recruited into the sports academy.

That day we won 3-0. I scored the first goal and then Albert scored the 2nd with the head. And then the 3rd goal was the one that impressed everyone. Alberto started from the wing, then found himself face to face with the keeper, dribbled the goalkeeper and all he had to do was to push the ball into the empty goal post . In the meantime I was running to his side and instead of shooting into the empty goal post, Alberto decided to pass the ball to me and I scored. This is how I found myself at the Sporting Lisbon Academy. After the game I went to him, and asked him "why did you do that?" And he replied, *"Because I know that you are better than I am and You will go far in life in this game, you needed that push* "

Curious to know more, the journalists began to investigate and were able to meet this Alberto Fantrau to ask him if the story told by Ronaldo is true, and he confirmed it, adding that his career as a footballer ended after that match as it was the only opportunity to become professional but i was sure Ronaldo would go far and do better. So I remained unemployed fulfilled and happy.

However, journalists, observing his luxurious house and his fleet of cars parked in the garage asked Alberto "but being unemployed how could you have such a house and cars and living so luxuriously? You seem rather comfortable physically " Alberto's answer: "All that? .. is Ronaldo "

Moral of this story:
Let us ask ourselves the following question: How many of us have ever done something like Ronaldo and Alberto? On the contrary, many of us show the opposite of this story displaying selfishness and ingratitude.

Friends! Let's help one another to succeed, don't think blocking that intelligent, talented and good fellow can add to your ordained destiny. You can not go nor have beyond what God has destined for you. Helping another person to succeed can only make your life better and above all guarantee a blissful hereafter for you.

Alberto might not have made it big like Ronaldo, and Ronald might still have made it in another way but Alberto wouldn't have had access to such Luxury. You see life! Open your heart and broaden your thinking. Be an abundant mentality personality. God will always be there at your own point of need too.

And when we help a person to succeed, the latter must never forget those who contributed to his success. Whether they forget or not, God doesn't abandon His own.

Above all, we shoud never forget that God is watching and He will judge us

Life is all about Your CONTRIBUTION and never about your POSSESSION!

Word of wisdom.

A Professor started his class on a very serious Topic. The moment he turned towards the blackboard, one of the students whistled.

He turned, looked at the class and asked the Whistler's name. No one answered.

The Professor peacefully kept the Pen in his pocket saying: "Lecture ends here. I'll tell you a story to utilise the remaining time".
Everyone became interested.

"Yesterday night I tried hard to sleep, but it was miles away from my eyes, so I thought I'd better get petrol in my car, which will save my time next morning and might induce sleep.

After having my tank full, I started roaming in that area, enjoying the
peace of a traffic free ride.

Suddenly, on the corner I saw a girl who was as young and beautiful as the clothes she was wearing. Must have been returning from a party.

Out of courtesy, I turned my car towards her and asked if I may be of any help. She asked me if I could
drop her to her home, she'll be very obliged, to which I agreed.

She sat in the front seat with me. We started talking, and to my amazement she was very intelligent, had control on many topics which many youngsters don't.

When we reached her address, she admitted my courteous nature and behavior and accepted that she had fallen in love with me.

I also admitted her intelligence and beauty and that I've also started liking her. I told her about my job
as a professor in the university.

The girl asked my number, which I gave her willingly. Then she asked me a favor, to which i couldn't have denied naturally.

She said that her brother is a student in the same university, and asked me to take care of him, since we'll be in a long relationship now.

I asked the name of the student. She said that I'll recognise him with one of his very prominent quality, He whistles a lot!

All eyes in the classroom turned towards the boy who had whistled.

The professor said:
"I didn't buy my Ph.D in Psychology...
I earned it.” Oya! Come out you stupid fool"

13/08/2019

The The song "It Is Well With My Soul" was written by a successful Christian lawyer Heratio Spafford. His only son died at age 4 in 1871. In 1872, the great Chicago fire wiped out his vast estate, made from a successful legal career. In 1873 he sent his wife & 4 daughters over to Europe on a summer trip on the ill fated SS Ville du Havre. Since he had a lot of work to do, he planned to follow them later. The Ship sank and he lost his 4 daughters with the wife being the only survivor. She sent him a famous telegram which simply read, "SAVED ALONE...." On his return home, his Law firm was burned down and the insurance company refused to pay him. They said "It's an Act of God". He had no money to pay for his house and no work, he also lost his house. Then while sitting and thinking what's happening to him, being a spiritual person, he wrote a song - "Whatever, my Lord, You have taught me to say - It is well, it is well with my soul".

My dear friend, a good attitude will determine your altitude. When you look at your life, career, job or family life, what do you say? Do you praise God? Do you blame the devil? A good attitude towards God makes Him move on your behalf. Just sit down and say, "Today, God, it is well with my soul, I am thankful I had a peaceful sleep, I am thankful I am alive with possibilities, I am thankful I have a roof over me, I am thankful I have a job, I am thankful that I have Family and Friends. Above all, I am thankful that I have the Lord Jesus Christ on my side." Be blessed and don't be envious or shocked when others are prospering because you don't know what they have been through to get there (test, trials and tribulation) so thank God for what you have. "Little is much when God is in it. It Is Well With My Soul!" Touch someone's life with this message. If God is for us, who can be against us?

Insert is Maitatsine ( The one who Damns ) a Hausa revolutionary leader shortly after his capture in 1980.

The first charismatic Hausa leader to unite his people against Fulani overlords was a scholar by the name Abd al – Salam , another Hausa scholar by the name Dan Buya joined him. His movement started around 1818, shortly after the death of Usman Dan Fodio. At the time, almost all Hausa people lived in slave camps and over 60% of them were vassals of the Fulani feudal overlords…. Another large faction were turned to chattels and sold to the Ottoman traders. The revolt by these clerics to take back their lands started at Sokoto and spread from Sokoto to Kebbi and Zamfara. Sultan Bello was the ruler from Sokoto. He declared the leaders of the revolt as apostates. They were both defeated in battle and assassinated.

The Hausas were organizing for a second revolt when Lord Lugard showed up. Hoping to use his influence to sack the Fulani rulers, they enlisted en -masse into his army and formed the first battalions of the West African Frontier Force (WAFF)… Lugard betrayed them after the successful campaign and gave the land of the Hausa people back to the Emirs on the condition that the Emirs agreed to be vassals of the British. The Hausa people protested and tried to pressure him to replace them with Hausa rulers. He refused and believed that the Fulani, being a non negro race would be supposedly more intelligent people to work with in a system of indirect rule. In his journal, he wrote…. ‘The Fulani are an alien race of conquerors who had in turn been conquered. It would constitute danger to the state if they were ousted from their positions. Their intelligence enables them to appreciate more readily than the negro population the wider objects of the British policy….’

Shortly before independence, another charismatic ruler rose from the ranks to free his people from Fulani rule. He was also a scholar by the name Aminu Kano. He shared similar philosophies with Awolowo on socialism and emancipation of the masses. He argued that the talakawas were an exploited group in the North and swore to restrict both the emirates and privileged class known then as Masu Sarautu. His rising profile posed concern for the British and for a second time, they made laws that disenfranchised the Hausa people. They created an electoral college in the North with laws that gave the emirs the final approval of any elected member into the legislature. With this law, they silenced the voice of the talakawas championed by Aminu Kano and frustrated his revolution.

In the 70’s, another Hausa cleric emerged and rallied Hausa people, his name was Mohammadu Marwa, nicknamed ‘Mai Tatsine. He deviated from many of the Sunni teachings and declared himself an annabi (Hausa ruler). The title in Hausa is reserved for prophets with divine inspiration..... He swore to rid Hausa land of the Fulani elites and the nobility that exploited the local rulers for over a century. Like Aminu kano, he drew a mass following among the talakawas. His movement was violent. He had weapons smuggled into Kano for a revolution that started in December 1980….. Shagari government used the military to fight the movement and killed over 5,000 people. The group was fearless and stood their ground to the last breadth…. Major Haliru Akilu, one of the commanders sent to restore order in Kano observed that the fanatics never retreated, even when they were overpowered. They were bolder than the guerillas we read about fighting in Malaysia or in the jungles of East Asia’

Mohammed Marwa was killed shortly after the revolt . ( It was said that at death, his body did not decay and this futher inspired his followers). A More brutal successor came after him. His name was Ali Suleiman (Musa Makaniki). He led a more violent uprisings in Kaduna and the most violent of all postcolonial Hausa revolts in Yola in 1984 which left thousands of people dead and thousands more homeless. Buhari ordered a ruthless crackdown on the group in Yola that led to the death of many members. Musa Makaniki fled to Cameroon to escape death by hanging and stayed in exile for many years.

The current cleric standing for the Hausa masses is El Zakzacky. Unlike the other previous leaders of the fight for freedom for Hausa people, El Zakzacky had western education and his movement started with intellectuals in the ranks. He finished with a first degree in Economics at ABU but was denied his certificate. In a country where the Northerners enjoyed the privilege of a quota system, he could have lived a good life by pledging allegiance to Futa Jalon rulers…. On the contrary, he chose to stand up for the injustice done to the Hausa people for over a century. Like the cleric before him, he deviated from all Islamic laws that bound them to Alien rulers that exploited the natives to form the nobility. His struggle is not about Islamic ideals, it is about freedom for Hausa people and rejection of Fulani nobility. His rhetoric is strictly centered on it and the government they greatly influence at federal level.

The emirs are alien rulers. Like the British who left at independence, they need to vacate the Northern kingdoms and give Hausa land back to its ancestral owners who have been seeking redress for injustice done to them by the Jihad of 1804 since the early 1800’s..... ‘Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.’ ( John F Kennedy)
