MC Oluomo Trends As Lagos Drivers Embark On Strike

Commercial bus drivers under the aegis of the Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Nigeria, on Monday, embarked on a seven-day strike in Lagos State over alleged extortion by members of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Management Committee.

In a statement before the strike, the drivers said, “Drivers and commuters have had a brimful of extortion and harassment from the motor park management and caretaker committee thugs popularly known as 'Agbero.'”

Meanwhile, the name of the Chairman, Lagos State Parks and Garages Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo, has been trending on Twitter in relations to the drivers’ strike.

A tweep, Ejike said, “The situation at Lagos bus stops this morning. No buses and no MC Oluomo or 'agberos’ to provide transportation. Na make una for see how utterly useless ‘agberos’ are, yet somehow Lagos has made them demigods.”

Another user, Waliu, tweeted, “Lagos State enabled the shenanigans. Commercial bus drivers pay the dues through their nose. Ordinary Lagosians bear the brunt of non-state actors' recklessness. I'm glad ordinary drivers are organising!”

“Lagos commercial bus drivers begins strike today. It’s gonna be a tough period for us in Lagos. It’s so crazy how much control non-state actors have on the Nigerian economy. 'Agberos' are bringing the State to a halt and the State Government is shamelessly helpless about this,” Opeyemi tweeted.

Weyimi said, “Do you know what's worse? The same people complaining about the scarcity of fuel and lack of buses are the same people who don't see anything wrong in thugs/agberos/MC Oluomo extorting money. Truly some people are addicted to suffering.”

UPDATE: Police Officer killed As Gunmen Kidnap Professor, Two Students

Gunmen on Friday kidnapped a former deputy vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Adigun Agbaje, and two students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY).

The abductors contacted the families of their victims, demanding N50 million for the release of Mr Agbaje, a professor of political science and former vice chancellor for academics, it was learnt.

They also demanded N10 million for each of the two students.

It was gathered that Mr Agbaje, who is currently on sabbatical at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye in Ogun State, was on his way to Ibadan around 6:00 pm on Friday when he ran into the gunmen.

He was taken – alongside the students – near Sat Guru Maharaji Garden, at the Ibadan end of the Lagos- Ibadan expressway.

A phone conversation between one of the kidnappers and the mother of one of the students revealed the former demanding the ransom urgently to prevent “her sudden death.”

The mother promised to get the money, praying that she will not die before her release.

Damilola Ajani, the president of the Student Union of MAPOLY, confirmed the abduction of the students.

“The unknown gunmen called to collect ransom of N10 million. In view of this we seek for public financial assistance and prayer.” Mr Ajani said.

Adewale Osifeso, the police spokesperson in Oyo State, said one officer was killed and another “badly injured” when they engaged the gunmen.

“So far, expended ammunition shells and four abandoned vehicles were retrieved at the scene,” Mr Osifeso, a superintendent of police, said in a statement.

He said the police commissioner in the state has ordered an investigation into the incident.

“In the same vein, caregivers, traditional healers, and residents within and outside the area of the shooting incident are advised to be on the lookout for gunshot victims and immediately report any strange occurrence to the police for prompt action.”

The West African Examination Council, has revealed that all its important documents and records were not affected by the fire incident that took place at its national office in Yaba, Lagos on Wednesday.

In a statement signed by its Head, Public Affairs Department, Moyosola Adesina, WAEC said, the fire incident "was swiftly contained by a combined team of firefighters.

"Thankfully, no life was lost and all important documents and records are intact."

BREAKING: Court Awards FG N500m Damage Over Kanu's Rendition

A Federal High Court sitting in Umuahia, the Abia State capital has awarded N500m against the Federal Government for the rendition of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu.

Justice Evelyn Anyadike awarded the fine, throwing IPOB members at the court into jubilation/

Counsels to Kanu led by Aloy Ejimakor had approached the court accusing the Federal Government of torturing, and forceful rendition of the IPOB leader from Kenya to Nigeria.

They were seeking N25bn damage against the Federal Government.

But the court in its ruling on Wednesday awarded N500m against the Federal Government.

Counsel to the Federal Government was absent from court, but Aloy Ejimakor was present with some IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu's supporters.

Some of the supporters who spoke after the judgment ruling said it was victory of good over evil.

Reactions As Pastor Relocates To UK With Student Visa Two Weeks After Prophesying That ‘Nigeria Will Be Great'

A Nigerian pastor who declared that the country will be great again, has reportedly traveled abroad, just weeks later.

This was made known by a young man on Twitter, who revealed that the announcement was made in church during service.

He said the cleric prophesied that Nigeria will achieve its potentials of being great, but he used student visa to travel to the United Kingdom two weeks after his declaration.

Smith said that they never knew the pastor is no longer in the country and it was when they went to church over the weekend that they were informed.

He wrote; ”2 weeks ago my friend’s pastor preached about Nigeria being great again. Yesterday it was announced during service that the pastor has traveled to the UK with a Student VISA 2 days ago. Life!!!”

BREAKING: CBN To Release Re-designed Naira Notes December

The Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has announced that the bank would release re-designed Naira notes by December 15, 2022.

He also said that existing notes would seize to be regarded as legal tender by January 31, 2023.

Emefiele disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.

The CBN said that it is worrisome that 85 per cent of the currency in circulation is being hoarded by Nigerians.

He further urged Nigerians to proceed to their banks to deposit their Naira notes, adding that the deposit fee would be waived for transactions below N150,000.

Emefiele added that the redesigning of Naira notes would help to curb counterfeit notes, as well as hamper ramson payment to terrorists and kidnappers.

A Local Hunter in Adamawa State identified as Usman Alhaji Audu, has sh$t himself de$d after his mother cautioned him against beating his 4 year old son.

According to reports, late Audu's 4-year-old son went out to play with his friends in their neighborhood in Gada Maisaje community in Gombi Local Government Area. He however did not return home in time. Upon the boy's return, his father descended on him and beat him mercilessly which attracted the attention of his grandmother, the mother to the deceased.

The mother was said to have cautioned the local security man against beating up his son to that extent. The hunter who became angry with his mother told her that it is better for him to k$ll himself and leave the world for her. The hunter was said to have at this time entered into his apartment, brought out his dane g$n, turned it on himself, and then shot himself dead in the stomach.

He was rushed to a hospital in Gombi where he was confirmed de$d and has since been buried.

The spokesman of the State Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje confirmed the incident and said that the police is investigating the matter.

Osun: After Smoking Indian H**p Spirit Told Me To Kill, Murder - Suspect Recounts

A 23-year-old suspect, Abdulafeez Shorinmade has said that some spirit instructed him to kill Rofiyah Rasaki, 18-year-old girl.

Abdulafeez was arrested after stabbing Rofiyah on the neck on Monday, October 10, in Iwo at about 9:30pm and the victim bled to death.

He later went to Soba compound in the same town and stabbed one Sawiyu Nasrah, 18, on the chin before he was caught while running away.

Speaking to journalists during criminal parade at the Osun state police command headquarters in Osogbo, the suspect, who claimed to be a barbing apprentice in the town, said he was led by some spirit to kill.

His words; “I am under the influence of some spirit. After smoking Indian h**p, I do hear a voice commanding me to do some evil things.

On the said day, I smoked Indian h**p and while I was returning from mosque the spirit overtook me. At that moment I was walking behind the girl and I stabbed her with a scissors I picked on the road. I didn’t know she later died.

“After stabbing her, the spirit told me to run away and I did. Few minutes later I saw another girl and the spirit urged me to stab her and I did. While I was running away, the spirit also told me to stop and I was caught by residents around the community”.

He, however, said since he was arrested, the spirit has not communicated with him.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola who spoke with newsmen said the suspect will be arraigned in court after thorough investigation.

BREAKING: Osun Gets New Commissioner Of Police

Sunday Olaleye Faleye will resume duty next week as the new Commissioner of Police, Osun State Police Command.

According to report, In 1990, Faleye joined the national police force, and last year he was promoted to the position of commissioner.

Faleye was the ADC to the former governor of Ekiti state, Chief Adeniyi Adebayo.

He has served as DPO in Tollgate, Oluyole, Ojooand lyana Offa in Oyo state. He has also done AC Ops in Ekiti state and Ebonyi state.

Faleye is a member of the International Association Faleye is a member of the International Association of Chief of Police (IACP) in the USA.

All those who know the police chief describe him as a humble and God-fearing person.

BREAKING: PDP Flags Off Presidential Campaigns In Uyo ( See Photos)

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, flagged off its presidential campaign for the 2023 elections.

The event, held at the Nest of Champions Stadium, Uyo, was attended by party leaders and members across all categories including the party’s presidential candidate, Akitu Abubakar, his running mate, Okowa and host governor, Udom Emmanuel.

Others included governors of Edo, Bayelsa, Taraba, Sokoto, Bauchi, and Adamawa, as well as former Vice-President Namadi Sambo, former Senate Presidents, Bukola Saraki, and Ayim Pius Ayim, former lawmaker representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye; former governors, members of the National Assembly, among other top party officials.

However, governors Nyesom Wike, Seyi Makinde and Samuel Ortom of Rivers, Oyo and Benue states respectively, boycotted the campaign flag-off.

The three aggrieved governors had similarly boycotted the inauguration of the campaign council at the Conference Centre, Abuja, on September 28, along with their two colleagues, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu and Okezie Ikepeazu of Abia.

But Ikpeazu in a statement on Sunday, restated his support for Atiku, as the presidential candidate of the PDP, reiterating he had nothing against him.

Illegal Pipeline: El-Rufai Knocks SERAP Over Threat To Sue FG

The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has knocked the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project for always suing the Federal Government without any reasonable outcome.

SERAP on Sunday said they would be suing the regime of the president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) over the discovery of an illegal oil pipeline in Delta State.

“We're suing the Buhari administration over the discovery of illegal oil pipelines, to compel it to name those responsible for the plundering of the country’s oil wealth, bring them to justice, and recover the proceeds of crime,” SERAP tweeted.

Responding to their tweet on Monday, the former FCT minister said, “PMB should have given you guys the first-in-history national honor of GCBBFR - Grand Clowns and Body-Bodies of the Federal Republic!! Your thoughtless words and ineffective actions have earned the recognition!!”

The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited uncovered an illegal 4km pipeline from Forcados terminal to a loading port which had operated undetected for nine years.

Singer, Davido, has confirmed he will be marrying Chioma Rowland, the mother of his son, Ifeanyi, in 2023.

In one Instastory posted by the flamboyant UK-based Nigerian pastor, Tobi Adegboyega, OBO declared that the nuptials would be next year.

PHOTOS: Police Patrol Lagos Ahead Of Independence Day Rallies

Men of the Rapid Response Squad and the Lagos Task Force have embarked on a patrol of the Lagos metropolis ahead of Saturday’s Independence Day and planned political rallies in the state.

Some of the policemen were seen at the Lekki Tollgate, a venue which the Federal High Court in Lagos had directed the supporters of the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, not to gather at.

In a tweet, the RRS said, “In continuation of its routine convoy patrol of the metropolis as directed by the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi is presently leading RRS team and Lagos Taskforce on convoy patrol of the city.”
