To be silent is synonymous with abandonment, but I am in ecological dimensions and value tourism, where neither the private sector nor the government are ready to commit. It's just like in 2000, when I was talking about e-tourism. Today history proves me right! Which I wasn't looking for.
The tourism of tomorrow is now! And it is on two pillars. The domestic offer and sustainable tourism through an integrated rural offer that we successfully launched and then abandoned in favor of all inclusive. Which was a disaster.
After Covid-19 and so many other experiences and examples (Ebola), of proven resilience and maturity in the ordeal, we have still not learned the lesson, as well as the way forward to develop tourism with new products, through innovative concepts. The hybridization of the tourism sector is underway everywhere with the notions of sustainability, competitiveness of territories, authenticity and uniqueness for better attractiveness and technological innovations, respect for the environment, skills and training.
To say that we risk missing out on the tourism revolution is no exaggeration dear member of the group. Tourism is a hybrid and paradoxical sector where any error is fatal.

Emirates suspends all flights from Nigeria effective Sept 1
Mega carrier, Emirates Airlines has said it would stop all flight operations to Nigeria due to its inability to repatriate its funds from Nigeria.
The carrier in a statement said it had tried every avenue to address its ongoing challenges in repatriating funds from Nigeria and had made considerable efforts to initiate dialogue with the relevant authorities for their urgent intervention to help find a viable solution.
"Regrettably there has been no progress. Therefore, Emirates has taken the difficult decision to suspend all flights to and from Nigeria, effective 1 September 2022, to limit further losses and impact on our operational costs that continue to accumulate in the market.
We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused to our customers, however, the circumstances are beyond our control at this stage. We will be working to help impacted customers make alternative travel arrangements wherever possible.
"Should there be any positive developments in the coming days regarding Emiratesβ blocked funds in Nigeria, we will of course re-evaluate our decision. We remain keen to serve Nigeria, and our operations provide much-needed connectivity for Nigerian travelers, providing access to trade and tourism opportunities to Dubai, and to our broader network of over 130 destinations.β

Day after accident, NCAA suspends Dana Airlines operations
An aircraft belonging to Dana Airlines on Tuesday made an emergency landing in Abuja after developing engine problem midair
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Wednesday suspended the Air Transport Licence (ATL) and Air Operator Certificate (AOC) of Dana Airlines indefinitely.
The NCAA Director-General, Musa Nuhu, announced this in a statement Wednesday night.
Mr Nuhu stated that the suspension of the operations of the airlines would take effect from midnight of Wednesday.
He added that the decision was the outcome of a financial and economic health audit carried out on the airline by the regulatory authority.
According to him, the findings of an investigation conducted on the airlineβs flight operations revealed that Dana Airlines was no longer in a position to meet its financial obligations and to conduct safe flight operations.
βThe NCAA acknowledges the negative effect this pre-emptive decision will have on the airlineβs passengers and the travelling public and seeks their understanding, as the safety of flight operations takes priority over all other considerations,β the statement said.
Dana Airlines in a statement Wednesday confirmed the suspension.
βOur operations have been suspended as advised by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority ( NCAA) in order to undergo a full operational audit with effect from midnight 20th July, 2022,β the statement said.
An aircraft belonging to Dana Airlines on Tuesday made an emergency landing in Abuja after developing suspected engine problem midair.
The airline said the affected aircraft was an Abuja-bound Boeing 737 aircraft with registration mark 5N DNA.
In a statement, Dana Airlines management said all the 100 passengers onboard disembarked safely and that the aircraft has been grounded for immediate attention by our team of engineers.
βOur Abuja bound Boeing 737 aircraft with registration number (5N DNA) embarked on an emergency landing today 19th July, 2022, due to an indication on one of its engines,β the airline statement reads.
It said the pilot of the aircraft briefed the passengers on the incident and landed the aircraft safely at the Abuja International airport at about 2.52 p.m.
βThe Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) have also been briefed on the incident,β it added.
The latest incident comes two months after the tyres of one of the aircraft operated by the airline caught fire at the Port Harcourt airport on May 2, terminating a scheduled trip to Lagos on that day.
NAHCON Regrets All Inconveniences
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) humbly acknowledges the following: that it owes deep and unreserved regrets to entire intending pilgrims to 2022 Hajj for the hardships and disappointments experienced during outbound airlift operations to the holy land. The Commission offers similar apologies to the federal government of Nigeria, State Pilgrimsβ Welfare Boards, Private Tour Operators, and the general public for any embarrassment the situation of the past few weeks might have caused.
Sadly, despite all efforts to airlift all Nigerian intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2022 Hajj, NAHCON was incapacitated in discharging this responsibility fully, majorly due to last minute setbacks that frustrated its plan to conclude airlift of pilgrims by 27th June of this year. Unfortunately, the chartered flights option that gave so much hope to NAHCON and the Private Tour Operatorsβ leadership also became a failure as their IBAN accounts failed accreditation by the respective authorities in Saudi Arabia.
Specifically, the following numbers of affected pilgrims would not make it to Saudi Arabia before closure of Jeddah airport, hence they are sadly bound to miss this yearβs Hajj. They are: Nine (9) pilgrims from Bauchi state; 91 pilgrims from Plateau state; 700 pilgrims from Kano state and an estimated 750 pilgrims from the Private Tour Operators sector.
The Commission gives assurance that all affected pilgrims will be refunded their Hajj fares while it will work towards improving its deficiencies against next time. NAHCON has learnt a lot of lessons and is determined not to have a repetition of the unfortunate situation. Management knows that no number of apologies could pay for the disappointments some Muslim faithfuls are currently experiencing as a result.
