10 Reasons To Visit Hawaii
:
:
Hawaii, the 50th addition to the United States, is often renowned as one of the most beautiful places on the planet.
For many people, a trip to Hawaii is at the top of their travel bucket list. Hawaii is one of the 50 US states and is located close to the exact center of the Pacific Ocean. Economically, the island is dependent on tourism. Its natural beauty and warm tranquil water continue to be major selling points for the island. The islands offer a wide range of activities such as hiking and ecotourism in order to ensure that your visit is more than worth the time and money. Just in case you were not yet convinced, here are ten reasons to visit Hawaii..............................
10. In some areas, it almost never rains.
Hawaii and sunshine go together perfectly.
There are some areas of Hawaii where pleasant weather is nearly a guarantee. You are likely to experience little to no rain if you visit coastal areas of the leeward side of the island. The leeward side is warmer and drier and sees less than six inches of rain per year. The Kohala Coast in particularly has a reputation for being particularly sunny, receiving only around 10 inches of precipitation annually.
----------------------------------------
9. And the hiking possibilities are amazing year round.
Hikers in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
With its many hiking trails, scenic valleys, volcanoes, and rainforests, Hawaii is a hikers’ paradise. Whether you are looking for challenging trails, scenic hikes, or you are on a study hike, you will find it all in Hawaii throughout the year. Most hiking adventures start at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The King’s Trail will take you through some of the most important cultural sites in the state.
---------—-----------------------------
8. During the winter, it becomes the surfing capital of the world.
Winter surfing in Hawaii is a legendary experience.
If you enjoy surfing or you are interested in learning how to surf, then winter is the best season to visit Hawaii. The various Hawaiian beaches offer plenty of surfing opportunities for visitors. The North Shore generates big swells during winter, making it a legendary surf spot on the island.
------------------------------------------
7. But if that's not your thing, there is always horseback riding.
Horsesback riding on the beach in Hawaii.
If hiking or surfing is not your thing, then you can sample the wealth of scenic and open landscape while horseback riding. The island offers a variety of fun ways to saddle up for a memorable experience. You will definitely enjoy scenic story-telling tours by a horse-drawn wagon or a real horse drives through the pastures of Kahua Ranch.
--------------------------------------------
6. Or snorkeling.
Snorkeling around a tropical reef in Hawaii.
You can also explore the ocean on a Hawaii snorkel or cruise ship to experience the beautiful underwater environment of the Pacific Ocean. Some of the amazing creatures that await you underwater include the green sea turtle and the tropical fish. You will have an opportunity to sample the vibrant coral reefs and ocean plants.
--------------------------------------------
5. Or even swimming with dolphins.
Dolphins in the wild in Hawaii.
Hawaii offers the chance to swim with dolphins. You can either swim with captive dolphins at the marine parks on Oahu and the Big Island, or with the wild dolphins in Kailua-Kona. However, it is important to note that touching or harassing dolphins is illegal.
---------------------------------------------------
4. Helicopter tours are also an option.
A helicopter flying over Kauai.
If you want to have a perfect view of the island and sample some of its beauty without having to walk through the long and sometimes bushy trail, then you can take a helicopter tour. You can fly over the incredible huge volcano on The Big island as you enjoy its heat which is one of the amazing experiences in Hawaii.
-----------------------------------------------
3. As is scuba diving.
A scuba diver at the Kona Reef.
The clear water of Hawaii is truly a scuba paradise. The east side of the island is a perfect spot for scuba diving. If you are a beginner, you can take scuba diving resort course at Hilo’s Leleiwi beach while most shops also offer a certificate for more advanced divers. If you want to experience scuba diving on a calm and clear water, the Kona side of Hawaii is the perfect place to visit.
-------------------------------------------------
2. Or visiting a volcano.
Lava flows into the Pacific Ocean on Hawaii's Big Island.
Because of its volcanic origin, Hawaii has plenty of volcanoes to visit. If you want to explore the largest sub-aerial volcano in the world, then Mauna Loa is the perfect volcano to visit. You can also visit Kilauea volcano which is the most active of the five Hawaiian volcanoes and get as close as possible to snap a picture of an eruption.
--------------------------------------------------
1. Even if it's simply just hanging out on the beach - Hawaii has it all.

A classic Hawaiian scene.
Hawaii beaches are often ranked among the best beaches in the world. Hawaii has over 400 beaches to choose from, so you are sure to find a beach that fits your preferences perfectly. You can also choose the color of your beach among the white sand, yellow sand, black sand, red sand, and green sand beaches. However, as the ocean conditions can sometimes be unpredictable, it is advisable that you choose a lifeguard protected beach.

~REVEALED: Why reserving a seat on a plane could cost more than the flight itself~

Booking a plane seat can make a flight much easier when travelling with family.

Whilst airlines often let passengers book tickets without choosing a seat, what can then happen is that that groups could be split up and even be at the back or in the middle seat.

However, as flight prices decrease, airlines are forced to try and make a profit from additional costs.

But could buying a seat cost more than the ticket of a flight itself?

Research by travel search engine Kayak.co.uk found that the seat sometimes costs up to 100 per cent more to reserve a plane seat.

One example they found was Ryanair who offered seats for just £7.49. If wanting a seat with friends or family or with extra leg room, seats could cost as much as £15.

A similar situation was found with Jet2.com. Flights start from just £24, yet a priority seat can be £25 each way.

Other flights such as Thomas Cook charge a minimum of £10 for seats on a plane, whilst Lufthansa doesn’t always charge for their seat bookings.

John-Lee Saez, a travel expert at Kayak.co.uk, commented: ”The research shows that some airlines are considerably tougher on the wallet if you wish to reserve a seat.

“If you have to check in at the desk, you will often find that being polite and just asking can get you the seat you want – whether that is next to someone else you want to sit with, or a seat with extra legroom.

“But in many cases, if you are checking in automatically, or with an airline where the format is 'first come, first served' when you get on board, the only way to guarantee is to pay.

“Sometimes the comfort is worth the cash, but don’t get caught up with unnecessary charges if you’re happy to sit next to whoever on the flight.”

The price of a seat can change depending on where it is located on the plane, with the middle seat not always being the cheapest.

On most airlines, the most expensive seats are found at the front of the plan and near the emergency exits.

This is so that passengers can have more leg room and get off the plane first.

Yet where are the cheapest seats found on a plane?

Is it safe to fly in Iran?

After the safest year in aviation history, during which not a single passenger jet crashed, there have already been two air disasters, claiming the lives of 137 people, in 2018.
The weekend’s crash of an Iranian plane over the country’s mountainous interior came just a week after a Saratov Airlines jet went down in Russia , shortly after taking off from Moscow.
And for the second time in seven days, the safety and maintenance records of an airline have been called into question, with geopolitics again at the centre of whether a carrier can be trusted to look after its passengers.
How safe is flying in Iran?
Iran certainly seems to have had more than its fair share of air accidents.
According to the Aviation Safety Network, there have been 59 fatal air accidents involving Iranian carriers since 1919, including 31 since 1989. Of those 31 fatal accidents, 17 saw at least a dozen passengers perish. By comparison, there have been only two air crashes involving UK airlines since 1989 that saw 12 or more fatalities.
The most recent was in 2014, when a Sepahan Airlines flight crashed near Tehran minutes after taking off, killing 40 passengers. After the grounding of its entire fleet, the airline ceased operations.
In 2011, a Boeing 727 operated by Iran Air crashed in north-western Iran, killing 78 people, while in 2009, 168 died when a Caspian Airlines Tupolev TM-154 suffered a bird strike and crashed near Jannatabad on its way to Armenia.
Why has Iran suffered so many air crashes?
Tehran has long blamed US sanctions, imposed on the Islamic republic prior to a recent thaw in relations, for the country’s poor air crash record, arguing that economic difficulties makes maintaining a fleet of ageing aircraft difficult, and hinders its ability to purchase new planes.
Indicative of how this impacts airlines in the country is the average age of flag carrier Iran Air’s fleet: 21.1 years, according to Air Fleets, which includes a 38-year-old Airbus A300. That compares to Delta, which has one of the oldest fleets of any major airlines, at 17 years, and the likes of Aeroflot, which has an average fleet age of just 4.2 years.
Indeed, according to research by Telegraph Travel , Iranian airlines are responsible for flying two of the world’s 10 oldest operating aircraft, with Caspian Airlines flying a 40-year-old 747 which trumps that elderly Iran Air A300.
The Iran Aseman Airlines plane that crashed at the weekend, a twin-engined, turboprop ATR72, was 24 years old.
According to Iranian news website Roozarooz, the plane had only recently begun flying again after seven years of repairs. “The plane which crashed today faced technical problems midair during a recent flight a few weeks ago,” Roozarooz reported.
Aseman Airlines operates five other ATR72 aircraft, the oldest dating back to 1993.
The Iran Aseman Airlines plane that crashed at the weekend, a twin-engined, turboprop ATR72, was 24 years old.
Are old aircraft unsafe?
Older aircraft are not in themselves dangerous - for example, British Airways just last week flew a 28-year-old Boeing 747 to Miami and back - but the aircraft must be properly maintained.
Following the crash of the Russian aircraft last week, a spotlight was shone on an aviation culture that used to survive on “aviacannibalism”, when old planes were broken down to provide parts for other aircraft. Iran, too, would struggle to find parts for 30-year-old planes.
It is this type of culture that recently led the EU to ban all Fokker F100s and Boeing 747s owned by Iran Air from its airspace.
What about Iran Aseman Airlines?
Despite some of its planes being prohibited from flying above Europe, Iran Air operates direct flights between London and Tehran, often using its much more modern A330s.
Iran Aseman Airlines, a semi-private carrier owned by an Iranian civil service pension foundation, however, is banned from European skies.
Accordingly the airline, the third largest in Iran with 26 aircraft, flies only in and around the Middle East and central Asia.
Its latest fatal crash was in 1994, when one of its Fokker F28s en route from Isfahan to Tehran suffered a sudden loss of power and crashed, killing all 66 on board.
However, the airline is in the process of updating its fleet, having signed a deal with Boeing in June last year to purchase 30 new 737MAX aircraft.
Aseman Airlines will soon be flying the new Boeing 737 MAXs CREDIT: GETTY
Is Iran modernising its aviation industry?
Iran’s carriers are currently negotiating with both Airbus and Boeing over the purchase of billions of pounds worth of new planes.
In 2016, Boeing signed a contract with Iran Air for the sale of 30 large 777s and 50 737 MAXs, while in the same year Airbus agreed a price for 100 new aircraft, including A320s, A330s and A350s.
Other Iranian airlines, including Airtour Airlines and Zagros Airlines, have also been in talks with Airbus.
According to a 2010 assessment of the Iranian aviation industry by the International Civil Aviation Organisation, Iran was found to be performing above the global average across a number of categories, including airworthiness and accident investigation.

Travel vaccinations: advice and information
Wherever you are travelling, there are plenty of ways to get free advice on which vaccination and inoculations you’ll need.

When it comes to organising your vaccinations, you have a choice. If you are concerned about cost, it will be cheaper to organise your vaccination through General Hospitals rather than visiting a private clinic, but prices vary from practice to practice, so it is worth checking both options.
Timing and convenience are also factors. There are vaccination that need to be done at least six weeks before you travel (something to bear in mind when considering a last-minute long-haul holiday). Also, some vaccines (such as rabies) can need up to three separate visits.
In Britain, the NHS provides the hepatitis A vaccine, typhoid vaccine and combined diphtheria, tetanus and polio vaccine free of charge from GP surgeries. Polio and meningitis immunisation is sometimes offered free or for the cost of a prescription and, depending on the surgery, there may be a smaller charge for rabies and yellow fever vaccine than at a private. But in Nigeria, you will need to visit a private hospital or clinic to get such vaccines because you can't assured you that you can get them for free in any government owned hospitals.

However, even when you can get it for free in general hospitals, where speed is important and where you’re looking for immediate provision of the most up-to-date information and vaccines, private clinics can be the best option as General Hospitals may need to order in stock of vaccines that aren’t routinely supplied.
“In Britain, the NHS provides the hepatitis A vaccine, typhoid vaccine and combined diphtheria, tetanus and polio vaccine free of charge”
If you live in or close to a city, the clinics are usually centrally and conveniently located, appointments aren’t required and an on-the-spot service is available.
Other clinics include those run by the Hospital for Tropical Diseases ( thehtd.org ), the London Travel Clinic (020 3733 0525; londontravelclinic.co.uk ) and Masta ( masta-travel-health.com ). Or see listings on the Travel Doctor website ( traveldoctor.co.uk ). Although some clinics charge an initial consultation fee (usually around £15-£20), this cost is usually refunded if you go ahead with the immunisations on the same day.
Here is my six-point plan for getting the right jabs, at the right time and the right price.
1. Plan well ahead
See your doctor or inquire at a clinic at least two months before your holiday. Some jabs need to be done a minimum of six weeks before you travel, and some vaccines (such as rabies) need up to three visits. If your vaccinations aren’t up to date, don’t be tempted by a last-minute long-haul holiday for which immunisation is recommended – you may not have enough time to allow the vaccines to work effectively.
2. Get the right advice
The Scottish NHS travel information site (fitfortravel.nhs.uk ) is particularly useful. It gives information on recommended vaccinations for specific countries (click on the map to reach those included in your travel plans). It also has up-to-date links to malaria maps and news about current or recent outbreaks of malaria, dengue fever and other dangerous diseases.
The website run by the National Travel Health Network and Centre (nathnac.org ), funded by the Health Protection Agency, also gives detailed destination-based advice and the Hospital for Tropical Diseases ( thehtd.org) website links to this. For an individual assessment, Masta (masta-travel-health.com ) offers a free travel health brief specific to a destination. Some GPs run formal travel clinics or employ travel nurses responsible for keeping up to date with the latest advice. For advice on vaccinations (and travel generally) for those with diabetes, see diabetestravel.org
3. Give all the details
When seeking advice, specify the type of trip you are doing and give the itinerary in full. If you are visiting a city for a few days, you are likely to be at far less risk than someone travelling to more remote, rural areas where medical facilities are scarce and health hazards greater. In Thailand, for example, the risk of contracting malaria in Bangkok will be much lower than in the rural, forested borders with Cambodia, Laos and Burma.
4. Shop around
When you know what vaccinations you require, compare prices charged by your GP and private clinics such as the Trailfinders Travel Clinic (see above), the Hospital for Tropical Diseases (see above) and Masta (see above). Note that the vaccination against yellow fever is only given at authorised clinics; see nathnac.org to find your nearest.
5. Remain cautious
Don’t assume you are immune from contracting a disease even if you have been vaccinated. You still need to be careful and take precautions to prevent illness from food, water, insects and animals. This is particularly true for malaria, where the only sure protection is to avoid being bitten by mosquitos – insect repellent and mosquito nets are crucial ways of reducing risk.
6. Travel with a medical kit
Lots of medical kits are available at chemists, or you could put one together yourself. Sterile needles and dressings are particularly important.

Aero News: Canada's transport chief confirms aircraft-drone collision
Canada's Transport minister has confirmed that a small passenger aircraft struck a drone while on approach to Quebec City on 12 October.
Though investigators have released few details, the incident could be among the first confirmed instances of a passenger aircraft actually striking a drone in flight.
"On 12 October 2017, a Skyjet flight was struck by a drone while inbound to Jean Lesage International Airport in Quebec City," Canadian transport minister Marc Garneau says in a statement released by Transport Canada on 15 October.
"This is the first time a drone has hit a commercial aircraft in Canada and I am extremely relieved that the aircraft only sustained minor damage and was able to land safely," he adds.
The drone hit the nose of a Skyjet-operated Beechcraft King Air A100 when the aircraft was inbound to Quebec City, says Transport Canada's online aviation incident database.
The collision happened 6.1nm (11.3km) from the runway at an altitude of 2,400ft, and the aircraft landed safely and with unknown damage, the report says.
Transport Canada did not immediately respond to a request for additional information, and it remains unclear if investigators actually recovered a downed drone, or if evidence rests solely on statements from the pilots.
Canada's independent safety investigator agency, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, tells FlightGlobal it is "assessing… and gathering information" about the incident and could decide later this week whether to open an investigation.
A representative from Skyjet, a charter operator based in Quebec City, confirms one of its aircraft hit a drone, but declines to provide additional information.
Encounters between commercial aircraft and drones have spiked in recent years amid a surge in the popularity of unmanned aircraft.
In the first three months of 2017, aircraft in the US reported more than 400 sightings of drones, according to the Federal Aviation Administration's most-recent drone "sightings" report.
Despite all those sightings, however, an FAA spokesperson says the only actual drone-aircraft collision she knows of in the USA occurred last month and involved a US Army helicopter.
According to reports, that incident occurred on 21 September when an army Sikorsky UH-60 helicopter collided with a drone over Staten Island in New York City, according to reports. The aircraft landed safely.
In other instances, collisions suspected of involving drones turned out false.
Those include a Socata TB10 light training aircraft that suffered wing damage after hitting something in July that was assumed to be a drone.
Weeks later, Australian investigators determined the aircraft struck grey-headed flying fox, FlightGlobal reported.
