In July 2019, I finally landed my dream job with the pay I wanted after nysc. In my mind, I have arrived, no more money worries. I was actually balling for a while.

March 2020, COVID struck

I became broke, no savings, no side hustle, I didn’t work for 8 months which meant no pay!

It suddenly dawned on me that, that job or business you have and are enjoying can disappear overnight and you are left with nothing, sometimes due to reasons beyond your control.

That’s when I made up my mind to have something else doing, a side hustle as we call it. I tried several businesses, ordered products from abroad to sell which wasn’t too bad to be honest. But due to the nature of my job (I’m a flight attendant by the way), I couldn’t keep up because of deliveries and other logistics.

It took a while but late 2021, I came across Affiliate Marketing, the perfect business model I could do with just my mobile phone that no matter where I find myself, my business would still thrive.

It doesn’t matter the kind of Job or business you do, does not matter how busy you are, a stay at home mum or dad, you can absolutely make a lot from Affiliate marketing.

HOW TO JAPA TO CANADA ASAP ON A BUDGET

One of my friends who relocated to Canada recently shared some lessons with me about his relocation and I thought I should share them.

1. Using Immigration Lawyers and Travel Agents Are Not Necessary:
When I made a decision to relocate, I came across several immigration experts charging as much as $15,000 to help you through the process.
I didn't use them mainly because I didn't have the money.
So, I had to do it myself and it worked
Later on, I found out that many people who paid those experts ended up wasting their money and being scammed.
With a little guidance, you too can apply yourself and save a lot

2. Open a Separate Bank Account for This Project:
I like taking the things I want to achieve as projects and relocating to a new country isn’t a small project.
One of the things I did when I made up my mind to relocate was to open a separate bank account with no ATM card.
I didn't have any rich uncle to help me.
So, I cut down on a lot of things and I started putting funds into the account for the project.
If you are like me, do this too.

3. Prepare for IELTS
Many people spend at least 24 months before they finally relocate because they have to write the IELTS exam twice
And that is because they didn't prepare for it the first time.
They think "it is just English"
If you want to relocate to Canada asap, you will need to get a good enough score

4. Prepare for at least 6 months ahead:
When you finally get to Canada, you will need some time to get used to the system, get a job, a house etc and settle down.
Depending on you, this could be within 3 - 6 months.
Just make sure you prepare for it.

5. Acquire extra skills like plumbing, fixing electrical issues, how to change car oil and how to generally fix things around the house.
Even though these services are cheap in Nigeria, you will be paying a lot of money to get them in Canada. By learning how to do them, you will be saving a lot of money.
Or even use it to get some change.

How to never ever forget your toothbrush on a trip!

My bad habit of always forgetting important toiletries especially my toothbrush was becoming a worry.

I didn't know what to do and often times, I would say to myself...

Babe!

So how will you go out this early without brushing?😭

Are you sure only toothpaste will do the job? (Me talking to myself by myself, then trying desperately to smell my own breath so I don't disgrace my ancestors 🥺)

Ehn I will carry my mouth wash along in case the spirit whispers to me that my breath is not fresh.

One hour into the meeting!

Hei God oo, why is this person frowning? Abi my mouth dey smell?

Excuse me 👆, I want to ease myself (rushes to the toilet to smell my breath and use mouth wash.
