When advanced countries are working progressively to strengthen factors that unite them to make further progress and development, most African countries including Nigeria have leaders are neck deep in suppressing citizens who are not of their ethnic or religious group, whilethe country plunges to abyss.
Very sad

The corruption War in Nigeria: How Far and How Well

…a matter of belling the cat

Auditing the maritime and freight industry in Nigeria to ascertain how it has fared in supporting the anti-corruption war of the federal government will help the sector to operate in compliance towards curtailing the ugly cankerworm in the sector.

This will support a process of self-reassessment and rediscovery by stakeholders in the industry to enable them commence repositioning that would advance development in the sector and also increase the contributions of the sector to national GDP, which is currently infinitesimal; but projected to reach 10% with efficiency and reduction in sharp practices in the sector.

The anti-corruption drive ought to be championed and spearheaded by the regulators; but what obtains in practice leaves a lot to be desired. It would appear that the issue of corruption has been over-flogged; it is however certain that corruption is at the centre of all the problems bedevilling freight operations and other sectors of the economy in Nigeria.

It is a situation where those expected to bell the cat have turned into vicious and ferocious wild cats themselves.

They have become the ones showing the rats the loopholes, as well as where the fishes are secured and also how to compromise the security gates to plunder the common wealth that should be committed to national development.

The regulatory bodies are statutorily charged within defined functions towards achieving seamless operations in line with global standards and best practices. If this is the case, why is it that operations are replete with so much malady, bottlenecks and encumbrances?

Is it not certain that the regulators are not playing their statutory roles efficiently? How come the regulators easily look the other way while most service providers are displaying sharp practices with impunity?

Int’l Flight Destinations From Nigeria Narrows

Why FG shifted resumption by one week

Countries that Nigerian travelers can go to when international flight operations resume in the country on 5th September, 2020 has narrowed down.

In other words, Nigerian travelers have few choices of external destinations they can go to due to decision of the federal government to clamp down on flight to some foreign destinations in Europe and America in retaliation to their flight ban.

Recall that last week, the minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika announced that Nigeria will resume post-COVID-19 international flights, at two of the nation’s airports, Abuja and Lagos. He had given the date for commencement as 29th August at that time.

He was, however quick to add last week, that the country will only accept flights from countries, that have no existing travel ban against Nigerians.

Many countries, amid the COVID-19 pandemic shut their airspace and closed their borders since March, 2020. Some of them are now easing things up, but with a lot of restrictions.

Britain, for instance has Nigeria on its travel ban, just like the United States, which imposed its ban in February, 2020.

UK, seen as the most favoured destination of Nigerian travelers, pre-COVID, had drawn up an exempt list of countries and territories, in which Nigeria is conspicuously missing.

In Africa, only the Islands of Mauritius, Reunion, St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha made the list.

For Nigerians, flights to Britain can only be allowed on essential basis, such as medicare, studies or joining families.

Those coming into Nigeria outside of the exempt countries will have to abide by the 14-day quarantine rule that was put in place on June 8, 2020.

These include travelers coming in from the United States, with the world’s heaviest Coronavirus cases.

While Nigerians are welcome in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), they cannot go to Cyprus and Saudi Arabia. Therefore, going by the principal of reciprocity

DID YOU KNOW?

Area of Africa = 30.37 million km2

Area of China = 9.6 million km2

US area = 9.8 million km2

Area of Europe = 10.18 million km2

Africa is bigger than all of Europe, China and the United States of America combined.
But on most of the world maps in the books, Africa is represented in reduced dimension, and this, to create the visual effect of a small Africa.
Manipulation, brainwashing.

Africa is 60% arable land;

Africa is 90% raw material reserve;

Africa is 40% gold reserve;

Africa, 33% of the Diamond reserve;

Africa is manganese, it is iron, it is wood.

Africa is three times the area of China, three times the area of Europe, three times the area of the United States of America.

Africa is thirty and a half million km² (30 415 875 km ²)
Africa is 1.3 billion inhabitants (China is 1.4 billion inhabitants out of 9.6 million km ²) And we are told all day long that Africa is overpopulated, its population must be reduced! By the way, a very young population, moreover, with an average age of 19, if I'm not mistaken. Africa is cultural diversity (dance, music, architecture, sculpture, etc.).

Africa is about 30,000 medicinal recipes.
AFRICA REPRESENTS THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY
(By 2050, Africa alone will be able to feed 9 billion mouths). With leaders who are not at the service of multinationals, HOPE IS CERTAIN FOR EVERYONE WITH AFRICA, otherwise we will all drown.
OR REASON ALWAYS TRIUMPHS OVER ALL HUMAN MADNESS!

Rejection of Zoning in Anambra 2021: Group Appeals for Caution

Anambra Needs Organisation, an interest group that canvasses for good governance in Anambra State has called on politicians in the State not to drag respected Traditional Rulers in Anambra State into politics. The group was reacting to a story published in one of the national dailies recently stating that Traditional Rulers in Anambra State have rejected zoning in next year’s governorship election in the State. The story had it that this was the position of a meeting of traditional rulers’ council from Anambra North Senatorial zone.

In a press statement signed by Amah A. Amah, the Director General of the Organisation, the group cautioned that it will be undue exposure and disparaging our revered traditional institution to put the Royal Fathers forward as the earliest speakers to canvass opinion and views on sensitive political issues as this. The group affirmed that the gentleman agreement on zoning was an unwritten accord of power sharing in the State to ensure that each senatorial district was accorded recognition and sense of belonging in the rotation.

Amah stressed that zoning was a normal political practice that is acceptable universally. “On what ground are Ndi Igbo saying 2023 presidency is the turn of Southeast if zoning has suddenly become an aberration?” Amah queried and further appealed to politicians and other stakeholders, especially of Anambra North Senatorial District that benefitted recently from the gentleman agreement of zoning in the State not to wish it away by the wave of the hand. “Let’s maintain the bridge even after using it to cross, as we might still need it on our return journey”, he concluded.
