A new stream of the AAIP will launch on March 1st, targeting people who have met the requirements for permanent settlement in Alberta and have worked in the tourist and hospitality industry for at least six months.

Candidates must also have a legitimate full-time, non-seasonal work offer from an approved company in the relevant industry.

In a recent announcement, the government of Alberta stated that this stream will help firms in the province—including those in rural areas—retain employees and boost the economy by easing shortages in the industry.

In addition to other high-priority programs, the province has declared that it will only accept a limited amount of applications for the stream and expedite their processing. The authorities are expected to release more details about this procedure on March 1.

Canada (IRCC) has unveiled a temporary cap on the issuance of study visas for international students. According to the information released by IRCC, the cap for the year 2024 is anticipated to lead to approximately 360,000 approved study permits, marking a 35% decrease from the figures recorded in 2023.

When applying for a study permit in Canada, it’s essential to address the (3)three main reasons for refusal to increase the likelihood of a successful application:

1. Genuineness of Student Status:

-Clearly articulate in your study plan why you have chosen Canada 🇨🇦 for your education and how your chosen study program aligns with your career goals back in your home country.

-Provide specific details about the academic and professional benefits 📈 you expect to gain from the program.

-Avoid vague statements, and ensure that your study plan demonstrates a thoughtful and authentic connection between your studies, career aspirations, and the specific opportunities available in Canada.

2. Proof of funds:

-Present comprehensive and accurate financial documentation, including bank statements, tax certificates, business registration etc to prove that you have sufficient funds to cover your tuition and living expenses 💸 in Canada.

-If relying on a financial sponsor, ensure that their income is clearly demonstrated as adequate to support your education and stay in Canada.

-Be transparent and thorough in showcasing your financial capacity, leaving no room for doubt about your ability to cover the costs associated with studying in Canada.

International students applying for a study permit in 2024 will require CAD 20,635 as proof of funds

3. Intent to return/ties to your home country:

-Highlight strong ties to your home country in your application to assure the visa officer that you plan to return after completing your studies.

-Showcase commitments such as family 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦relationships, employment opportunities, properties, or business ventures that emphasize your connection and responsibilities in your home country.

◾️Starting from January 1, 2024, the cost-of-living requirement for study permit applicants has increased to CAN$20,635, excluding tuition and travel costs.

◾️This change applies to new applications received from 2024 and will be adjusted annually.
◾️In Quebec, applicants must meet costs outlined by the Ministere de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Integration.

◾️For the Student Direct Stream (SDS), the required guaranteed investment certificate amount varies by province.

📌 Applications received before 2024 will be assessed using the CAD 10,000 guaranteed investment certificate requirement, while those received from 2024 require CAD 20,635.
