SOUTH AFRICA MISSION, NIIA HOLD TALKS ON ROBUST PARTNERSHIP
The South African Consul General to Nigeria, Prof. Bobby Moroe has disclosed the intention of his country to collaborate with the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) on areas of bilateral cohesion and relations.
Moroe stated this today while paying a courtesy call on the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Prof. Eghosa Osaghae.
The South African Envoy described NIIA as a 'perfect home' where diverse issues impeding the smooth relationship between Nigeria and South Africa could be objectively x-rayed with a view to resolving them by striking a balance between diplomacy and scholarship.
Moroe who blamed the media for misrepresenting some facts bearing on both countries' relationship, said the two nations have some mutual national interests.
NIIA's DG, Prof. Eghosa Osaghae, in his remarks, said Nigeria and South Africa enjoyed a cordial relationship historically. He said this was evident in Nigeria's contributions to South Africa's liberation from Apartheid.
Prof. Osaghae said NIIA in collaboration with various stakeholders would organize a session to critically look at the social malaises undermining the bilateral cohesion of both countries such as xenophobia.
Need to cut down the cost of governance, scale up export value and implementation of workable social policy top discourse as the 14th Emir of Kano, former CBN government and Grand Khalifa Tijjaniyya Nigeria, Muhammad Sanusi II, sufficiently dished out practicals steps Nigeria must take to reset her economy for a brighter future @ NIIA's Distinguished Lecture Series today.
