I read a statement from the CEO of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, that someone earning 200,000 naira monthly in Nigeria is better than the one earning 2,000$ monthly in the US or UK.

My first question is, how many people have a job that pays them 200,000 naira monthly in Nigeria?

The second question is, apart from eating food in Nigeria, do we consider quality health care, availability of social amenities, quality education, and security as part of life?

The third question is, if Nigeria is so good, why are our politicians sending their families abroad and they spend most of the time abroad with their families?

Someone earning 2,000$ in the US or UK lives in an air-conditioned house, drives a car, sees beautiful environments, and enjoys other things I mentioned in my second question which are far from an average Nigerian.

In Nigeria, where the average cost of fuel per a litre is now 600 naira, 200,000 naira is nothing.

Only a lazy person will be in the US or UK, where there are several job opportunities, and be earning 2,000$ when he or she can work more & earn more.

If you have the dream of living abroad, don't let anybody stop you. Even your friend living abroad may want to stop you, but don't forget that destinies are different.

One of the important documents for visa application is the bank account statement.

This is because you need it to prove that you have funds to finance the trip you want to embark on and that you will not become a liability in the counter you are travelling to.

As an important document, you need to make sure you have a good bank account that will convince the visa officer of your good financial standing in your country.

Each time I ask visa applicants if they have good bank account statements, they reply by asking what makes account statement a good one. Once you reply with that question, it gives an obvious answer that you do not have a good bank account statement.

Someone who has a good bank account statement knows that he has one. It is the same thing as someone who is not ill. They won't be asking you how they will know that they are not sick.

Just like a healthy person is complete, so is a good bank account statement complete. They have everything.

What are those things?
It has a good opening balance.

It has good inflows and outflows.

It has good total credits and debits.

It has a good closing balance.

There are no particular figures that determine what makes any of them good. It is based on an individual's circumstances and the visa you are applying for.

The account statement that is good for a visit visa might not be good for a study permit because the purpose of travel and funds required for the two visas are not the same.

A visa applicant going to another country for the purpose of schooling requires more money than someone who is just visiting the country for a holiday.

Things that boost the approval of USA visa

1. Good travel history shows good adherence to immigration law.

2. Employment with a known organisation is a sign that you are doing well in your home country.

3. A salary that shows that your income is good shows that you are not going to the USA to become an illegal immigrant.

4. Good educational background. Most especially if your purpose of travelling is for educational related events like attending a conference.

5. If you are not educated & you do not have someone in the USA that is inviting you, applying as a business person going for business or holiday is best.

6. Fill in your visa application form well.

8. Let the purpose of your travel be a meaningful one and align with your personal background. E.g. you can not be an engineer & say you are going for a program organised for lawyers. You could have saved that money

Visa application has more to it than the theories you see online.

Even the embassy will tell you that it is your responsibility to prove to the visa officer that you are eligible for the visa you are applying for.

They also tell you that, it your responsibility to add any further documents you think will help prove your eligibility for the visa you are applying for.

What that means is, apart from the documents the embassy has mentioned as the required documents, it is your responsibility to add other documents you think can help your application to succeed.

Every individual has their own peculiarity as to the other documents to add to the documents already mentioned by the embassy as the requirements, and this is where the work of a visa consultant comes in.

They are Giving Visa Now*
Oftentimes, people reach out to me, and they say they heard so so country is giving a visa now.

My response is always, I don't know. I give that response so that tomorrow someone would not quote that, I said the country is giving visas.

What you do not know about visa issuance is that visa issuance is based on merit and at the sole discretion of the visa officer.

The fact that someone you know has gotten a visa does not mean the embassy is dashing out visas to everyone. You have to prove that you are eligible for the visa, and the visa officer will now take the decision as to whether or not you will be granted the visa.

I have some clients that none of their visas we have ever applied for have ever been denied.

Why is it that those client's visas have never been denied any country's visa?

They have everything to prove their eligibility for the visa they apply for.

What are those things that prove their eligibility?
1. They have a viable source of income, such as owing a registered business or working with a reputable company with good pay.
2. They have a good bank account statement that prove that their living condition in their country are good.
3. They consulted and know the visa they need to first apply for in order to build their passport to be able to apply for any country's visa. Visa to apply for means, the country that can grant them visa without travel history, and the right category of visa to apply for.

One thing about these set of people is that, despite having the requirements to get the visa, they are never despirate to get the visa.

How to Prepare for US Visa Interview

US visa application procedure includes attending an interview by the visa applicant where a visa officer will interview the applicant to ascertain the applicant's eligibility for the particular visa he/she has applied for.

It is the time you demonstrate to the visa officer how eligible you are for the visa you have applied for and therefore, is a very important part of the visa application process.

How to Fill US Visa Application Form

Your US visa application is where you first tell the visa officer about you before appearing in person for an interview. How you fill it will determine the beginning of success or failure of your visa.

Here are things you must consider when filling your US visa application form:

State a convincible reason why you want to visit the US.

Don't state in your form that you have made particular arrangement for your trip, just state your arrival date in US & how long you intend to stay.

Don't state in your form that you will be staying for long except you have a justifiable reason to stay in the state for long. As an employee, three weeks is enough while as a business owner a month is enough.

If you have been invited, give complete information of who is inviting you such as complete name, employer, telephone number, email address, etc. Don't skip any information, it shows you know who is inviting you well.

State your employer's information clearly, if their trademark is different from their business name, state the two of them. E.g Ecart Internet Services Nigeria Limited operates as Jumia. Put Ecart Internet Services Nigeria Limited & bracket Jumia in front.

Make sure you state your monthly salary if required in the application form.

State the previous places you have worked if required in the application form.

Don't lie about your previous denial if you have been denied before.

If your spouse is in the US, don't lie and state in the form that he/she is not in the US.

State completely where you will be staying in the US.

State the schools you attended if required in the application form. If you did not go to higher institution, state the secondary school you attended. If you have attended higher institution and also have a post graduate degree, skip secondary school and start your educational qualification from your higher institution.

If you have traveled to any country before, make sure you state it in your application form.

If someone will be sponsoring your trip, give complete information of the person in the visa application form and be prepared to tell why the person is sponsoring you during the visa interview.

If you are married, make sure you state it in the form because being married and having your spouse in your home country is a tie to your home country. A tie means something that is considered as what can make you return to your home country.

In your application form, state everything clearly and correctly so as to avoid unnecessary questions from the visa officer during the interview to clarify what you could have attended to in the visa application form.

How to Apply for American Visit Visa

Go to www.ustraveldocs.com & navigate to DS160 online application. You select create new application, select your secret question and provide the answer.

Fill out the DS160 form. You can submit the form after filling it or save it after filling it for submission later. Note: your form is saved for 30 days until is removed if not submitted. If you want it prolong the date, before 30 days, open it again & just add anything, save it again and it will activate another 30 days stay. Why saving it for later submission is good is should you have anything you need to change in the form such as travel date, etc

In the same www.ustraveldocs.com navigate to schedule an appointment. Select schedule an appointment, select new user, input your email address, your name, password & submit. This will create a new profile for you for you to be able to book your visa interview appointment.

To book appointment, click new appointment located in the left hand side of the appointment page, follow the prompts to enter your details, DS160 code, your interview location, visa category and so on. You will get to where you will see available dates in calendar form, select your preferred date & schedule your appointment. Note: DS160 is the application number found in your visa application. It starts with AA00.

Prepare for your interview. Make sure you know the information in your application & be able to answer any question that you will be asked from your application.

On your appointment date, take your documents which include international passport, appointment booking confirmation, visa application confirmation, visa fee receipt, etc as the case may be according to individual and go for your interview.

If your interview is successful, white paper will be given to you and your international passport will be held back for your visa to be fixed on it.
