*IKORODU: AN EMPTY CITY WITH LARGER VOTES*

I decided to diverrs my article this period to politics as it affects our development in Ikorodu. This is for many reasons which one of them is that tourism triumph in a place that's passionate about development. Politics can not be devoid of development. That's why active tourism practitioners will always be involved in his destination politicking.
Ikorodu Tourism is passionate about the development in Ikorodu, hence the political activities in the golden town.
The activities of the Lagos State government under APC, especially during Ambode and Sanwoolu, had given us an indication that called for the above subject matter. I could referred to ikorodu as a ghost town because if His excellency Sanwoolu is called for conference now to talk about Ikorodu, *one of his words will be nobody in that town except few people that are polical leaders* because those are the people he beckoned on anytime he needs to direct the local fowls in the ghost town. This is the s exact reason he feels that any state money he spent on development in Ikorodu is a waste.
But to my surprise there are many indications that shows our growing population in Ikorodu even on the report from LAMATA (BRT) that shows how many fowls that boarded the bus in a month and the amount they cash in from the ghost town. would not like to delve much into BRT activities from this article because I referred to that as a scam to cash in money. The money charged from people is too much after collecting the state road, re named it BRT corridors, the service deteriorates on a daily basis, yet the price goes up as the service comes down. Yet people, the fowls, are not considered for a second.
I would rather say, the APC government doesn't have any plan for Ikorodu that's the sign we have seen in their commissioner's list which should be no no for us because its only election period governor personal assistant whispered to him that we need to consider Ikorodu during campaign because those fowl has become human being and they have PVC to cast vote,. That's the only thing that will bring him and his entourage to come and beg for vote with a series of empty promises, so what come after the election is of no use to them.
Go to my town, no successful state government project in any form either progressing or completed. Why wasting our time and effort in supporting a bad government? What's the need for our sisters and mothers chanting praising songs for who doesn't realise our existence. We don't need a prophet to come and tell us what we need to do so as to ensure development to our dear town. All the towns under Ikorodu have turned to shadows despite the heavy presence of humans and materials. I guess Govenor Sanwoolu thinks Lagos is just Ikeja to Lekki because that's his area of concentration.
I promise the governor that he has reawakened the spirit in us. He will hear from us from all angles. We realised no other method is working than doing it by ourselves. Our destiny is now in our hands.
Personally, this government has failed from the beginning, except we see another turnaround.
Our promise to His excellency and his party is that we know our right, and we can't beg for , t yet we will surely get it. Its development we are concerned with not slot. You can even withdraw the single one you gave, but we need developmental project attention

NIGERIA: NEGLECT "BOOM"(1)

Nigeria TOURISM sector is a goldmine that has long been waiting for who to tap its usage. Oil boom has been the pre blessing God deposited in Nigeria. Meanwhile, the real boom is neglected.

In most of the countties we tagged the developed world today has been maximise their tourism opportunity for the fact that most of the thing they showcase are artificial tourism. For example, in the world today, most of these countries are the dream place for our youths who intend to JAPA. This is so because tourism was taken with serious and devoted plans by the successive government.
A country like MACAU in the People's Republic of China got their highest share of GDP through direct travel and tourism of any other economy worldwide.

THAILAND has also benefited from the tourism market welcoming 2 million medical tourists a year. In Singapore, 400,000 patient visits every year.

France is another Mediterranean country with 60 billion yearly tourism income

Spain has the second largest tourism income in the world, with almost 68 billion & yearly making up tourism. 5.2% of the total economy

Coming to Africa, Ethiopia is a good example. In 2014-19, travel and tourism growth reached 81% pa. World Bank invested $35 million to support tourism development in three targeted destinations- Adis Ababa, Lalibela, and Axum. Some of the strategies included destination development in and around world heritage sites, product development through support for SMEs, community engagement, and institutional capacity building. As a result, 5,553 main jobs were created in the targeted destinations in tourism related industries such as accommodation, catering, and tourist transportation. Women accounted for 54% of all new jobs with youth accounting for 42% in Axum and 27% Lalibela, what is more, 54 new business ventures were created in the handcraft, agri- business and local tour guide/ecotourjism.

Rwanda takes similar steps of recent and its fast becoming a destination in Africa.

Nigeria, as a giant of Africa, as they say, has the opportunity to develop all Africa toiristically. Nigeria should be like the US in America continent for Africa. When we lead, others will follow. It's high time we take the bull by the horn. THE BOOM had overstayed. The opportunity is too long neglected

My concern is this: With the few analyses above, it takes good planning to be on the right path in tourism planning and development. For touriM to develop we need to localise it.

Let me quickly draw a reference from a locality in Spain called Palma Malloca. The local government created a sustainable tourism tax in July 2016 to ensure the sustainable growth of the sector. OverLl, the project enabled palma to invest its earnings from tourism tax into the quality of life of the local communities.
All local government authorities in Nigeria should be charged with tourism planning as a special sector that needs to overhaul, in fact, if it's for singular reasons for providing job opportunities, but it's beyond that
