Unibuja To Honour Pastor Kumuyi
With Honourary Doctorate Degree

The University of Abuja has
concluded plans to formally
decorate the General
superintendent of the Deeper
Christian Life Ministry and Deeper
Life Bible Church worldwide, Pastor
WIlliam Folorunsho Kumuyi with an
Honourary doctorate degree award.
The occasion of the investiture of
the degree honoris causa will hold
on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at
the auditorium building of the
university Main Campus.
The State Overseer for the FCT
church, Pastor Joshua Esho, who
broke the news at the church's
weekly Tuesday Leadership
Meeting, said the GS will be in Abuja
to receive the award.
Before letting the cat out of the
bag, Pastor Esho said, "I cannot hid
anything from you. Before you
start reading it in the newspapers
let me inform you. The University
of Abuja will be decorating our
father in the Lord, the GS with an
Honourary doctorate degree Award
on Saturday, February 24, 2018.
Praise the Lord!"
He stressed that the award, which
has been approved by the
governing council of the institution
will be bestowed on the God's
General of our Generation, Pastor
Kumuyi in recognition of his
immense contributions toward the
nation's development, giant strides
in advancing quality education,
laudable impact in the academia,
monumental achievements in the
propagation of the gospel as a
globally respected televangelist
spanning over fourth years and his
towering contribution towards the
spiritual well being of the nation.
The event which will be well
attended will witness the presence
of Deeper Life Bible Church
National oversees, will attract the
36 state overseers and senior
leaders in the church as well as long
time friends and colleagues of the
renown man of God.
William Folorunso Kumuyi (born 6
June 1941) is the founder and
General Superintendent of the
Deeper Life Bible Church situated
at KM 42 on the busy Lagos-Ibadan
Expressway, Nigeria. He is the
author of several books. In the
early 1970s Kumuyi worked as an
education lecturer at the University
of Lagos.
Pastor W.F Kumuyi was born into a
Christian family in Erin-Ijesha, Osun
State, Nigeria. He completed his
secondary school education in
1961, and in 1962 started teaching
mathematics at Mayflower School
in Ikenne, Ogun-State, from where
he proceeded to the University of
Ibadan and in 1967 graduated with
a first-class honours degree in
mathematics. He became a born-
again Christian in April 1964.
Kumuyi remarried in October 2010
in London, about 18 months after
the death of his first wife, Abiodun
Kumuyi whom he married in 1980.
In April 2013, Kumuyi was named as
one of the "500 most powerful
people on the planet" and Deeper
Christian Life Ministry named as
"the World's largest Megachurch"
by Foreign Policy magazine (FP).

A Math Professor is Called to
Preach!
In 1973, while serving as Math
Lecturer at The University of Lagos,
W.F. Kumuyi started a Bible study
group with 15 university students
who had come to him requesting
training in the Scriptures. By the
early 1980’s that small group had
grown to several thousand, at which
time Deeper Life Bible Church was
formally established.
By 1988 the congregation had
grown to 50,000, and now numbers
120,000 members, making it the
third largest Christian church in the
world. Dr. Johan Combrinck reports
that the Deeper Life Bible Church
not only has an attendance of
120,000 every Sunday, but has
planted 500 churches in Lagos,
5,000 in the rest of Nigeria (with an
independent estimate of more than
800,000 members in Nigeria alone),
and 3,000 elsewhere (with
missionaries to 40 countries of
Africa) as the movement
