DROWNING INCIDENT AT ELEGUSHI BEACH

The management of the Elegushi beach has described as unfortunate, the drowning incident that occurred at a section of the beach earlier on Tuesday, which claimed the life of four teenagers.

In a release signed by Chief Ayuba Elegushi on behalf of the beach management, it stated that the incident occurred at an unmanned section of the beach area, which is not opened to the public.

According to him, about ten boys of teenage age, visited the beach Tuesday morning, to celebrate the success of their WAEC Examination.

While the beach authorities and security team turned them back, however, the boys took a detour and went to an unmanned section of the beach area to swim.

Unfortunately, about ten of them were almost drowning before the beach life guard team were alerted to the scene and six of them were rescued, 2 of which were rescued were however injured while four are still missing as at press time.

While the matter has been reported at the Ilasan Police Station, effort is still on to find the missing boys.

Our attention has been drawn to some UNtrue NEWS trending around about a particular Sodiq Aremu rumored to have drowned on our beach.

Such a NEWS is untrue and incomplete. We do not take such articles targeted at denting the reputation of our organization easy and lightly.

The management have been up and running ever since it happened and we have made sure we put all necessary measures to ensure we do not experience such unfortunate incident again.

In as much as the incident have nothing to do with the beach or the management, we still felt the need to do what we think is right to humanity.

The incident didn't happen in the beach or it's jurisdiction at all but since it still happened along the same coast, we take it as our social responsibility.

We have assisted in the little way we can and also funded the little expense we can.

Our prayers are with his family and friends in this trying time.

We pray to God to grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss"
