Hope you had a profitable month.

In this summary publication for May, I am going to share updates on the Study and Work Visa routes to Canada. You should share this information with your friends. Before we go further, here are important terms you should be familiar with:

1) LOA: This stands for the Letter of Acceptance. The letter of acceptance is the official document issued to Admitted Students, to enable them apply for their Study permit and Visa. Institutions in Canada will only issue LOA after the Candidate has fulfilled all admission requirements which may include payment of part of the Tuition fees

2) SOWP: This stands for Spouse Open Work Permit. The Spouse Open Work permit is issued to Spouses of Students with Valid Study permit in Canada. This allows the Spouses to move in and out of Canada and also Work in Canada , as long as their partner is registered as a Student in Canada.

3) PGWP: This Stands for Post Graduation Work Permit. The Post Graduation Work permit is granted to qualified Students who have completed their studies in Canada, to enable them remain and Work in Canada. A minimum of 8 months full time program is required to qualify for PGWP. The maximum duration of PGWP is 3 years. Students are advised to apply for their PGWP within the last 90 days of their study program.

4) PAL: This stands for Provincial Attestation Letter. The PAL is a new requirement by the Canadian Immigration for Students who have been admitted to a Canadian Institution. The PAL is required to be submitted with the Study permit Visa applications for certain Category of programs which I will describe below.

5) PR: This means Permanent Residence. Canada has many PR Pathways. In this post we are focusing on the Study pathway. Students who have been issued PGWP in any province can explore the PR Pathways after their Graduation.

Now that you know all the terms, let's move on to the updates

1) Students admitted to Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Certificate Courses in Canada require PAL to apply for their Study permits. Students admitted to Diploma, Advanced Diploma programs are eligible to apply for PGWP and subsequently PR after their program. However, Spouses of Students in Diploma or Advanced Diploma programs are NOT eligible for SWOP. They can only apply for Visitors Visa . Children of Students studying Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs are eligible for Dependent Visas and can join their parent in Canada.

2) Students Admitted to Undergraduate programs for Bachelors Degrees also require PAL to apply for their Study Permit. The good news here is that Spouses of Students admitted into the following Bachelors Degree programs are eligible for SOWP:

Dentistry or Dental Surgery, Optometry, Pharmacy, Law-LLB, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, All Education-B Ed programs, All Bachelor of Engineering programs.

If you have ND, HND, or a very good WAEC result and want to relocate with your spouse, you should consider this option. Another advantage is that Tuition deposit for undergraduate programs are usually very low. For instance, University of Manitoba charges 2000CAD as deposit before issuing PAL.

3) Students admitted to Masters programs or Doctoral Programs do not require PAL to apply for their Study permit. Also Spouses of Students admitted into Masters program are eligible for SOWP. Note however that Canada Universities no longer accept any HND qualifications for Masters.

Sequel to the recent update, this is to also notify you that reservation for our Paris Easter 2024 package has commenced. This package includes entry tickets to Disneyland in Paris for kids. Adults and solo travelers are also welcome on this trip.

Virgin passport and first time travelers:

Some first time travelers were issued Visa for the Easter package. First time travelers are welcome to apply. Note however that this is not a guarantee for Visa

If you have a valid Schengen Visa
If you have a valid Schengen visa, the total package per adult is N850, 000, N750, 000 per adult (sharing) and N400, 000 per Child. 50% deposit is required to secure your reservations before the deadline.

Reservation deadline:
This offer is valid till Friday, 2nd February 2024. Note however, that it is strongly recommended that booking be made as soon as possible to get a visa submission appointment cover the visa processing time.

Visa Information:
France visa application does not require interview.

Interested applicants will be required to appear in person for documents submission and biometrics. Documents required are proof of registered business or occupation and Proof of funds in terms of Bank Statements. Prior Travel experience is an added advantage.

Visa and biometric fee of 80 Euros per adult and 40 Euros per child below 12 years will be collected directly by the embassy representatives on the day of the biometrics data capture. Note that this fee is not part of the total package fee quoted above. All visa fees are non-refundable.
Duration of Visa is a minimum of 1 month and up to 3 years for frequent travelers.

IMPORTANT VISA INFORMATION

1) Virgin passport holders have been issued USA Visas on successful Visa interviews. Virgin passport holders can apply, however this is not a guarantee for Visa issuance. Travel experience always gives you the edge on Visa interviews.

2) Appointment dates will fall in the first or second quarter of 2024.

3) If your USA Visa expired within the last 4 years, and you have not been refused Visa afterwards, then you qualify for interview waiver (Drop Box). Copy of expired Visa should be sent along with Data page of passport

4) This is a family package, if you have a family, the embassy expect them to join you on this package, although, single people can also apply

STEP 3: On receiving the data pages and payment, we shall send the visa information form to the delegates, this will enable us complete the visa processing and schedule your bio metric and submission appointment.

This is to notify you that Visitors to Canada, who are able to get a job offer, are eligible to apply for Work permit while they are in Canada. This policy is in place till February, 2025. This means that If you enter Canada with a Visitor’s Visa within this period, and you are able to secure a job offer, then you can convert your Visitors Visa to a Work Visa while you are in Canada. This is another route to Canada Residency if you cannot go through the other routes.

How do you secure a Visitor’s Visa?

To secure a Canada Visitor’s Visa, you can apply for your Visa through a family invitation from a relative in Canada. The next 2022 Multidisciplinary Conference in Paris, France will be taking place from 24th to 28th November 2022. Registration closes on 15th August 2022.

HOW TO REGISTER
Interested delegates should:

STEP 1: Respond to this email with a scanned copy of their passport data page, quoting the registration reference of the conference they are interested in. This step should be completed immediately so that we can book your biometrics appointment on time.

STEP 2: In response, delegates will be required to pay a non-refundable Conference registration, reservations and travel insurance fee of N180, 000. Note that this fee is part of the total package of N485, 000. Payment method will be sent once we receive the data page in step 1 above

STEP 3: On receiving the data pages and payment, we shall send the visa information form to the delegates, this will enable us complete the visa processing and schedule your biometric and submission appointment

Important Visa Information:
France visa application does not require interview.
Visa information and service is only available to delegates who register for the conference on or before the registration deadline.
Interested delegates will be required to appear in person for documents submission and biometrics. Documents required are proof of registered business or occupation and Proof of funds in terms of Bank Statements. Prior Travel experience is an added advantage.

A fee of N45, 000 will be collected directly by the embassy representatives on the day of the biometrics data capture. Note that this fee will also be deducted from the total package after visa is issued. All visa fees are non-refundable.
Duration of Visa is a minimum of 1 month and up to 3 month. Frequent travelers to Europe are given up to 2 years
