Hurricane Julia is slowly getting closser to the Corn Islands.

WARNING

The hurricane-force impact is expected for the Corn Islands in the South Caribbean of Nicaragua.

The Islands will be hit by winds over 100 kilometers per hour, with destructive potential for civil construction.

A storm surge is expected with a rise in sea level above its usual level and high-frequency waves with a height greater than 4 meters.

KEY MESSAGE

Consideration should be given to safeguarding boats, pangas and dories. Electric power and drinking water services could be interrupted, prepare in time by reserving drinking water and lamps with batteries.

BREAKING NEWS:

After almost 2 years, effective Immediately, a Covid-19 test is no longer the only accepted method to enter Nicaragua.

Now either proof of vaccination or covid test are acceptable for entry.

Expect in the coming weeks that additional airlines will be posting announcements of upcoming resumed flights as well.

The Corn Islands have started to receive a big amount of tourists from the mainland. This Wednesday the ferry that travels weekly to Great Corn Island was packed with people, while hundreds were left on the wharf in Bluefields wanting to come over.

For Easter week the boat will be traveling daily from Bluefields and vice versa. There's no excuse to visit Corn Island!
