Gold Prospecting

The North Atlantic Coast is riddled with productive gold mines. Experience the artisanal gold industry first hand. See the impressive gold mines. Dig, extract, wash, pan and maybe even find your very own gold nugget to take home!

The countryside extending from Puerto Cabezas to the Mining Triangle of Siuna, Rosita and Bonanza is spotted with small mining operations. Each has its own system, method and technique to extract gold from the earth. The biggest mines are in the "mining triangle”, where there are numerous mining operations ranging from the Canadian owned HEMCO to hundreds of small artisanal operations.

We have developed key relationships with mine owners who are happy to have people come to participate in any part of the mining process. It's also possible to purchase some of the gold that the mine is extracting that day.

Please contact us for details.

For an unforgettable taste of the miner's life spend the night in a mining camp. See how the miners work and live, lend them a hand if you want. Learn the truth behind what it takes to mine gold from the earth. Relax in a hammock after a long work day and swap stories. It is for sure something that you'll never experience anywhere else.

Miskito Cays

Explore the abundant shallow water reef and island communities known as the Miskito Cays. These unusual towns have Caribbean blue water instead of streets with ancient wooden sailboats and dugout canoes instead of cars. These areas are virtually unvisited and unexplored by outsiders - a real life hidden paradise.

These islands are seasonally inhabited by members of the nearby coastal communities who harvest seafood from the beautiful Caribbean waters. The rugged inhabitants of the islands are a diverse mix of Caribbean Creole and Indigenous Miskito divers. Going to these communities with Adventuricanice is a rare chance to be part this unique maritime culture. We know the people and you will be treated as family.

The main island of Miskito Cay has an interesting network of lagoons in its center that few have ever explored. Along with excellent fishing these lagoons are home to unique wildlife including stingrays, turtles, crabs, birds and a lot more. With such a lengthy history of pirate action in the area, it is quite likely that there is b***y buried somewhere out there.

While you're with us you will eat like a king the freshest fish, lobster, crab and conch on a breezy deck overlooking the Caribbean while you stay in private houses, and be attended to for your every need. Here you can swim everywhere, the water is warm blue and inviting. All you have to do is enjoy yourself in this paradise.

Trips to the Cays take a minimum of 3 days and can be customized for any length and variety of explorations. Your first day will be spent traveling from Puerto Cabezas in an outboard fiberglass panga, then spend as long as you can in the Cays visiting communities, snorkeling, fishing, exploring, swimming and your last day is for travel back to Puerto Cabezas. We strongly recommend that more time is spent enjoying the islands to get a true feel of the culture.
