What happens to your discarded clothing?⁠

Only 10% are recycled and 8% are reused. Unfortunately the rest of it are either in landfill or incinerated. Many of these discarded clothes are in good condition; being unloved, deemed "out of fashion" and not put to good use. ⁠

Give your clothes a second lease of life. Re-style them, upcycle them, repair them, swap them! There are many ways to do so 😀⁠

"Since I moved to Berlin 3 years ago, I’ve weaned off any shopaholic habits as the city generally has a very casual and dress-down culture. I really enjoyed not spending on unnecessary shopping and having a basic wardrobe. I pledged to this campaign to consciously keep track of whether this is really the case and also to motivate myself to do more than the basic of not buying. I’m currently using this to document my journey on instagram so I could, hopefully, make my friends aware as well."⁠

"I have already been quite comfortable with shopping less. However, as I explore the upcycling space, I am keen to work more with used fabric and keep them in circular use instead of throwing them away. " ⁠

As fashion changes at a speed of 52 times per year, our clothes consumption are increasing at an unprecedented pace. At the same time, consumers are throwing 36kg of shoes and clothes from their wardrobe this year.
This vicious cycle of chase-buy-throw needs to stop. It is time to make more conscious choices in how we see our clothes, how we purchase (or not) and how we can vote with our wallet to stop environmental destruction and unfair wages in the fashion industry.

Not buying anything new in our current world can sometimes be pretty challenging; especially when faced with constant changing fashion trends and low retail prices (it does come at a cost of our environment and also unfair wages though!). On 21st June 2020, we took a stand with , to go slow & good with fashion. ⁠

There has been problems with the fashion industry, over-production, racism, unfair labour wages, environmental destruction, and the list goes on. We know of these problems; many have also talked about it but it is not always shown in action. ⁠

Hence, we are partnering with on the campaign between 21 June 2020 and 21 September 2020 to make a change with our actions. ⁠

Throughout this period, we will be highlighting 4 ambassadors from all over the world to show how they and vote with their wallet. We will also showcase how we can upcycle to through .⁠

Happy Summer Solstice 2020! Today marks the longest day of the year with more than 15 hours of sunlight in the temperate regions. 2020 has been a trying period but let us hope things will get better going forth.

Plastic is light, durable and versatile, but they take 400 years to decompose and is posing grave risks to the health of ecosystems both on land and in the oceans. 😔⁠

We cannot undo the damage but we surely can look into our daily habits to see how we can reduce our plastic intake. ⁠

How have you been managing your waste during ? With the temporary closure of F&B places, it is inevitable that we have been doing a lot of takeaways and as a result, our heightened demand for plastic containers, single-use plastics and packaging. ⁠

We can however do our part to minimise these waste! Simple ways such as ⁠
😄bringing our own food containers when buying from a food stall ⁠
😄requesting for no plastic package when purchasing items online ⁠

Let’s face it, overseas travel is a want which may be evolving to a need to many today. Many times, the travel footprints that we leave are a lot more polluting than we assume. (i.e carbon emission from transportation, plastic waste used on flights, and even consumption of one time travel wear) So, lets travel lighter and greener cause there ain't no planet b.
