Northern Tour of Holland
You may be surprised by this - you may think of the Netherlands as crowded and very busy - but we have some beautiful nature reserves as well. Tidy cycle paths criss-cross them, so it’s easy to get to places where all you see is heathlands, dune grasslands, sea views or forests. Take your binoculars along and you might spot seals or grazing horses, and you’ll certainly see lots of birds! Check out the video to see some of these nature reserves!
Sunny greetings from our interns Enya, Carolin and Laura on board De Amsterdam! 🌞 They’re so enthusiastic about the picturesque landscapes and the charming villages they’re discovering on their bike tour through South Holland! But it's not just the breathtaking nature areas, the countless windmills and the delicious cheese that they'll remember: “We're currently having an unforgettable time with two other passengers, Tricia and Jill from America, who we met by chance on this tour. We definitely won't forget biking with them and the many laughs we shared. We hope to be reunited with them in the US soon after this tour!”
It may be a hilly landscape, but the cycling is easy and beautiful along the Mosel River on the Metz-Cochem route. The landscape alternates between beautiful green woods and neat rows of grapes for the region’s specialty wines. As you cycle your daily routes, there’s always time to taste the local wines as well ... sounds good, doesn’t it? 🍷
Have you ever heard of the Wadden Sea? It’s the shallow intertidal zone in the north of the Netherlands (and partly in Germany and Denmark too) and it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site. That’s because of its importance for biodiversity and because of how it’s an undisturbed product of wind and tides. It’s also a beautiful place for biking and sailing: through the dunes of the Wadden Sea islands of Texel and Terschelling, for example, or the historic fishing villages of Friesland. And sailing across it, hearing nothing but the sounds of the wind in the sails and the sea slapping on the hull, is absolutely magical!
Have you ever been to Amsterdam? Many of our tours start and/or end there, as you know. But have you thought about how it might be to see Amsterdam from this different perspective? The whole center of the city is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and it’s breathtakingly beautiful with its concentric rings of canals and 16th-17th century rowhouses.
