The aim of Liberation Route is to make this core part of European history more visible and more accessible for visitors from all over the world. The project includes historians, museums, regional heritage and tourism organisations, tour operators and tour guides, and promoted to the public and travel Trade. If you are a guide, interested in joining Liberation Route Europe, read on! The Liberation Route Europe has appointed Frank Baldwin and Joël Stoppels as project co-ordinators who will by responsible for recruiting and training guides. Both are accredited Guides, and validators of the International Guild of Battlefield Guides. Initially we are looking for the best guides from each region. WHAT DO GUIDES GET FROM THIS?
• Guides who become Liberation Route Europe Guides will get the following benefits.
• Recognition as selected as the best from their region to guide the story of the liberation of Europe.
• Training in the historic context of Liberation Route Europe.
• The Liberation Route Europe Guide Handbook.

WHAT DO GUIDES HAVE TO DO? Guides will need to
• Apply to become a Liberation Route Guide
• Pay an annual membership fee of €100 – the first year is free
• Provide their time free of charge for training and validation
• Abide by the Liberation Route Europe rules. HOW WILL GUIDES BE SELECTED? Initially we will select a number of guides from each region by 1 October 2016. We seek guides who are recognised for their expertise in tour management, presentation skills and historic knowledge. Proficient English speakers will be preferred. Selection will take account of the differences between guide accreditation schemes in each region. For the UK we would be unlikely to consider guides who were neither accredited by the Guild of Battlefield Guides nor Blue Badge holders. l WHAT SORT OF TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED? The initial mandatory training will be delivered electronically. This will focus on the international historic context based on the LRE Magna Carta.
