Arnarvatnsheiði NEW in 2017

The riders are faced with the task of driving a herd of mares, foals and youngsters to the vast highlands where they can roam freely in their summer pastures. It is a real adventure to participate in the herding action.

In the summer of 2017 we are celebrating our 35th anniversary and on that occasion, we are offering an adventurous anniversary tour in the north in Arnavatnsheiði. The tour leads us through Vatnsdalur valley to unspoiled nature of Arnavatnsheiði heath with its uncountable waters and majestic beauty north side of the glacier Langjökull. Haukur and his team of the farm Hvammur will make sure that the tour will be an unforgettable experience.

Around Vatnajökull
24 days journey around the biggest glacier of Iceland

In July 2018 we head out for our biggest adventure so far! 850 km ride around the glacier Vatnajökull. We start the journey from Lake Mývatn in the north of Iceland and head east toward the wilderness of Möðrudalsöræfi then down to Fljótsdalur and the fjords of the easo coast heading south of the glacier to Höfn and then along the coastline all the way to Kirkjubæjarklaustur were we start turning up north again passing Eldhraun , Landmannalaugar and Þóristungur and then up north across the desert of Sprengisandur all the way home ti Saltvík, We will have around 100 horses for this amazing ride and all carefully chosen and in perfect condition for this long exciting journey. Once in a lifetime oppertunity for Icelandic nature and horse lovers!

Trail of Hope - The Saga Trails
This tour is an ideal opportunity for everyone who wants to enjoy a comfortable ride in different types of landscape. We ride through unspoiled nature and get an excellent insight into Icelandic history when listening to stories from the Saga ages. Riding the horses on smooth sandy grounds is a joy for the rider and his mount. There is plenty of time to enjoy the unique gait “tölt” while exploring nature and the history of this outstanding area.

Sprengisandur
In to the wild

This tour is the big brother of all riding tours in Iceland!! The longest and hardest route between north and south Iceland which travellers used to ride on their journeys through the centuries. The trail leads between the huge glaciers Vatnajökull and Hofsjökull and was in the past feared by those who had to ride it because of stories about ghosts, trolls and outlaws that used to live up there. If you look for the ultimate challenge regarding riding in Iceland then this tour is something to think about.

The Snæfellsjökull National Park is where you find one of the most recognised sights in Iceland; the glacier covered cone volcano Snæfellsjökull. Its mythical atmosphere became famous through Jules Verne’s novel “Journey to the Centre of the Earth”. Today rich bird life attracts visitors from all over the world. The peninsula itself is often called “Iceland in a nutshell” because of its diversity of landscape. This tour leads through mighty lava fields, craters and ashes of ancient eruptions in Hítardalur valley. We also enjoy wide-open stretches of light-coloured sand at Löngufjörur beach, where only the tide sets a limit to the freedom of horses and riders. 1 September we launch a Brand New site with a lot of NEW things for 2016, like traveling with the bus, or the Jeep. We offer also a custom made trips. We make all the reservations for the overnight staying. For all travellers, booking by us, we make a online guide or a printed version, for easily finding all locations. Tips for "Where to go" and "What to see" is included. So..... Don't think twice, we can make a special trip you!...

This summer we are going with a special "Tailor made" trip to Iceland with 14 riders. Most of them young, around 12-16 year old. We look forward to this tour in co-operation with Sydra-Langholt farm in the South of Iceland. One week in the Highlands! Great!
