Dock of the bay, factsheet:
Dock of the Bay was founded in 2007 by Niek Visarius. The key driver to start up the company was the founders ambition to use his commercial acumen and business experience in operations, supply chain, change management and training for a broader scale of companies.
Prior to and during the start-up months Dock of the Bay experienced that many companies had a distinct need for the knowledge offered by Dock of the Bay, but did not have that knowledge available.. Dock of the Bay is since able to fill that gap with it’s own resources or through partnering with a network of selected international based professionals.
One of the unique strengths of Dock of the Bay and it’s business associates is the combination of in-depth experience in certain fields or businesses, combined with the capabilities to train people and exchange and “lock-in” knowledge. Since we started we maintained our focus in operations, supply chain and training across multiple industries.

Lean,
Our Lean philosophy can be captured in a sentence: “Lean thinking aims to create more value for customers. All employees are engaged to continuously reduce waste in the process. The flow of products, services and information through the entire value stream to customers is optimized”.
Lean is a philosophy that focuses on value creation. Lean is not a goal in itself, but a mean to achieve the goals that derive from the vision and strategy of an organization. It moves an organization, assures improved service to customers, creates financial value, and increases employee satisfaction.
Working according to the Lean philosophy asks for a change. 70% of the change programs fail. Even though these interventions are usually started with a lot of energy, time after time they appear not to get off the ground, come to an end, or work out in the wrong way. The failure of changes can be reduced to the people and the change process. It is often not sufficiently considered what is needed to carry through a change and what this implies for the people involved in terms of new behavior.
Unfortunately, we often see that Lean is used as a set of tools to cut costs and that there is little connection with the vision, strategy and leadership of the organization. The focus is on short-term objectives and sub-optimization. This ultimately leads to relapse and disillusioned customers, employees and managers.
We see Lean as a philosophy which contributes to the creation of sustainable and measurable value. Creating sustainable value is a continuous process and we use the Value Creation Cycle for this.
