It all went very well and we all had a wonderful time.
There were so many highlights… the village tour with Lulu, the Umu with Richard, the last night with Ruth and Kelvin , the snorkelling….
We had a wonderful insight into the Samoan way of life.
Our first encounter with a fale was a bit of a surprise to some of us but we soon got into the swing of it and we all agreed that this was an essential part of the Samoan experience and we that we wouldn’t have had the same experience with the resort option.
Our trip coincided with some really cold temperatures in Dunedin while we were away enjoying 28 to 30 degrees so a great result all round for us.

Getting it's name from the old fruit storage shed it is located in, it has a large bi-fold windows making the most of it's waterfront location and views of the Waimea Estuary.

Kohatu Flat Rock Cafe is such a welcome site when you are cycling from Wakefield to Tapawera and in need of a caffeine fix.
From Wakefield you climb to Spooners Tunnel and enjoy the experience of cycling through the 1.35km long tunnel, then it's a short cycle through the forest before you get to the cafe. Stop here for a fabulous coffee and perhaps 'second breakfast' before cycling on to Tapawera.
Boasting a fire for cold days and outdoor seating for sunny days it's the perfect place for a stop.
