This afternoon the Avatar was handed over to her new owner. A wonderful decade has come to an end. During these ten seasons we made many beautiful sailing trips in the Baltic Sea area, the Stockholm archipelago, along the west coast of Sweden, in the Oslofjord, to England and around the Channel Islands. We welcomed many nice guests on board, many of whom returned on board regularly. We would like to thank you all, as well as all our wonderful crew members, suppliers and everyone else who helped, for this wonderful time with the Avatar.

A new era has begun for us: the construction of the classic sailing yacht Quadra. We would love it if you followed the construction at Quadra Sailing or via the website https://quadrasailing.com/. And who knows, we might see each other again in a port or on board the Quadra.

The Avatar continues under the name Ocean Sherpa. The Blaak family, the new owners, will organize trips in Norway and Spitsbergen in 2024. They will be heard from soon. Are you curious yet? Avatar returned to her home port Franeker this weekend. A wonderful season has come to an end. We visited many places in the Baltic Sea area, the Stockholm archipelago, along the west coast of Sweden and in the Oslofjord. We welcomed many returning and new guests on board. We’d like to thank all of you, our crew, suppliers and everyone else who helped, for this beautiful 10th sailing season.

Wilhelmshaven-Sailing-Cup. Das war es also mal wieder für dieses Jahr. Montagmorgen ist kurz vor Sonnenaufgang die Avatar als letztes von 14 Segelschiffen ausgelaufen - begleitet von den beiden Krabbenkuttern, die ebenfalls zu Gast waren.
Ein besonderer Moment, da die Avatar wohl das letzte Mal am Cup teilgenommen hat und somit ein letztes Mal die geöffnete Kaiser-Wilhelm-Brücke durchfahren musste.

Wir danken Wilhelmshaven Sailing-CUP für eine wundervolle Zeit in Wilhelmshaven. Und wir haben uns sehr gefreut, dass zwei fantastische Fotografen mitgesegelt sind: Rainer Ganske Fotografie und wattgeknipst. Wir sind sehr gespannt auf alle Bilder!

We received a very warm welcome at the Oslofjordmuseet in Vollen!

Vi har fått fint besøk i båthavna vår! Det nederlandske Tall Ship Avatar har seilt fra Göteborg til Oslo og bestemte seg for å legge til kai her i Vollen og vente på mer vind til å frakte dem videre💨 Vi ønsker dem en god tur!

We had a challenging sailing trip from Stockholm due to a lot of headwind. But today we arrived in Hohe Düne/Warnemünde, where we were surprised by the visit of a few dolphins just off the coast! On the way we visited Nynäshamn, Kalmar, Christiansø, Svaneke, Klintholm Havn and Stubbekøbing. Tomorrow it will continue to our final port of Rostock.

On our sailing voyage from Stockholm to Rostock, the Danish island of Christiansø is a must-see. Fortunately for us there was place in the harbour today.

Tall Ship Avatar is sold and will change hands on 1 November 2023. For André it was time for something new after more than 35 years in the charter industry. And a new project is already underway: the construction of the classic sailing yacht Quadra. The Blaak family will become the new owner of the Avatar and under the new name Ocean Sherpa the ship will embark on expedition trips to Greenland and Spitsbergen.

We sincerely thank all our clients and business associates for the trust you have placed in us and for the many wonderful sailing trips we have shared together. We will enjoy the sailing trips that are still to come this season and hope to stay in touch with you afterwards.
