By comparing just ordinary things like cooking, studying

and the way of discussing things you’ll see that there a thousand different ways of living life. Because of this, intercultural contact will not only expand your view, it enriches you and stimulates personal growth. On the other hand, getting to know other cultures leads to a better mutual understanding which is so important for good international cooperation.

Get ready for our next activity, the Dutch Language Course by UNICEF on ⚠april 10th⚠!

Do you want to learn Dutch, brush up some existing skills or do you have questions? Then this course is perfect for you!

🌱All proceerd will be going directly to charity! In particular the Climate Smart Program in Madagascar UNICEF:

Increasing the resilience of communities With the Climate Smart Program in Madagascar UNICEF helps increase the resilience of communities against the effects of climate change and the intensifying droughts. By providing these villages with access to good sanitation, water systems and sustainable electricity, UNICEF aims to make 20 villages more climate-resilient and sustainable between 2022-2025. Besides investing in a sustainable infrastructure UNICEF also supports and invests in entrepreneurship and subsidizes local companies to train them in maintaining these services themselves.

Lastly, UNICEF wants to increase knowledge about climate change among adults, local authorities, adolescents and children. Want to help UNICEF with improving a sustainable infrastructure in Madagascar and want to make 20 villages resilient again?

Interview with Bo Haman - Assessor PR
- Why did you decide to join the board?

I had been a buddy for three semesters and really enjoyed this association. I appreciated the initiative and loved all the different types of activities. So when I saw a post about there being an information evening of being a board member I thought "why not take a look". After visiting I was so enthusiastic to be able to add to the association in this way and it seemed a lot of fun, so I sent in my motivation and resume that same evening!

- What is your function in the board?

I'm the head of PR (public relations) so I try to figure out in what way we want to present ourselves to the world and how we can do this. So I handle the promotional materials around sign-ups and plan out our booths/talks on information days. But I also handle the event promotions, like all of our social media posts and the WhatsApp group.

What I like most is the creative freedom. Every year the new head of PR gets to make their own style for our social media posts, and design new flyers/posters/stickers, and even other promotional materials such as merch! I like design and love showing how I see BuddyGoDutch on these things so this is my favourite part:)

- What is your favorite memory of this board year up until now?

Our Christmas photo shoot! Board members of different associations make christmas cards to give to other boards and with their members happy holidays (you may have seen ours on here haha). So with our entire board in Christmas clothes -Joost even brought his own christmas tree along - and my good friend as our photographer we went to a garden center to take pictures with the decorations. Of course the employees were laughing at us but we had a ton of fun joking around and I got to design a card I really liked. When I look at those pictures I think you can really see how our board interacts with each other which makes me very happy 😊

Interview with Joost Luijben - Assessor External Affairs
- Why did you decide to join the board?

After doing an exchange in South Korea and really trying to learn the language and culture there, I found it was sometimes hard to find Korean people who were open to me to teach it. When I got back, I wanted to do something about that same gap that we have in the Netherlands. I found that BuddyGoDutch exactly tries to fill that gap. After doing three semesters of being a buddy, I decided that I wanted to do other and better activities than the existing ones. That’s why I decided to join the board.

- What is your function in the board?

I am head of external affairs, this means that I am responsible for all communication with external partners. I establish the connection with existing partners and for BuddyGoDutch and try to find new partners. Another part of the board which I like to do is the IT part. This year I created the new automatic matching system, which took quite a bit of IT knowledge but it is really nice to see how the matches turn out

- What is your favorite memory of this board year up until now?

What I really like was the ice skating. This is one of the activities that I said I would organize when I would become a board, because it is so popular in the Netherlands and a nice way to show the dutch culture. It was really nice to see everyone ice skating and I even learned some during the clinic!

Interview with Tom Wassenberg - Fiscus / Vice-paeses
- Why did you decide to join the board?

I decided to join the board after I had a great semester as a buddy. I had time to spare and I wanted to do something useful (and fun!) in my next year, so I decided to join the board

- What is your function in the board?

I'm the Vice-President of BuddyGoDutch. I make the agendas for the meetings, I lead the meetings, I try to keep the atmosphere as good as possible, and I assist in other things such as the expansion of our organization!

- What is your favorite memory of this board year up until now?

One of my favorite memories is probably riding the beer bike. I had the task of steering the bike, which didn't really go that smoothly. I might have scraped some trees, but it was a lot of fun! Especially when we were blasting our music and racing the other beer bike. Luckily we had the road to ourselves... ;)

- Why did you decide to join the board?

I decided to join the board because I liked the activity committee. A board member suggested the board and seemed fun to do, and a good experience.

- What is your function in the board?

In short my functions are to plan and organize activities we do all year round, and to manage the budget of the association.

- What is your favorite memory of this board year up until now?

My most fun memory of this board year so far is when we went beer biking, we had an absolute blast doing that.
