Gliding through the icy waters of Lapéyrère Bay on a zodiac cruise, we were greeted by one of Antarctica's most elusive predators—the mighty leopard seal .
Surrounded by shimmering icebergs and a serene, icy landscape, this apex predator reminded us of the raw, untamed beauty of the polar regions. Its sleek form, powerful gaze, and commanding presence are a testament to the delicate balance of life in the Antarctic wilderness.

A mesmerizing sight: orcas gliding through the Antarctic waters, right in front of Plancius. Not every day we get to see our beloved ships from this perspective, let alone alongside such majestic creatures!

December has been a spectacular month for Orca sightings aboard our vessels! Just days ago, we shared an incredible encounter from Plancius, following a similarly magical experience on Ortelius. If you were feeling a bit envious on behalf of Hondius guests — don’t worry! This stunning Orca made a grand appearance near Hondius, gracefully showcasing its elegant moves for everyone on board. What an unforgettable treat!

Relaxation or rumbles? At Gold Harbour, it’s a mix of both! These "lazy titans" are either napping peacefully or squabbling over prime lounging spots right in front of m/v Hondius. Life's never dull with elephant seals!

The largest and oldest iceberg in the world, the A23A iceberg, is on the move once again in the wild seas of the south!
Guests aboard Ortelius had a memorable encounter with A23A today as they sailed alongside this icy behemoth with a total surface area of around 3,900 square kilometers (1,500 sq mi). Since calving from the Filchner-Ronne ice shelf in 1986, A23A has spent many years grounded and immobile but is now slowly drifting north.
As it enters warmer waters, predicted to be around South Georgia, A23A will start to disintegrate. Still, for now, we can marvel at this island-sized iceberg as it forms dramatic ice arches and forms an immovable barrier to ships operating in the Antarctic Peninsula.

There are few more spectacular sights while at sea than breaching whales.
Last weekend, we were lucky enough to encounter a pod of southern bottlenose whales. This large cetacean is found only in the southern hemisphere and is most frequently spotted in the waters of Antarctica, as it feeds in the nutrient-rich depths.
However, our luck didn't end there, as we were treated to some impressive breaching displays and surface behavior - a fantastic experience that left many of us feeling emotional.

Spending as much time on shore is one of our priorities when exploring the wilderness of the Arctic and Antarctica, and one of the best ways to do so is on a long hike.
Our long hikes are different, taking you far from the ship, and immersing you in a polar world for entire days at a time. You'll not just get a surface level experience, but truly feel the raw power of nature, and understand these special environments on a far deeper level.
