ROYAL HUISMAN IS HYDROGEN READY - Royal Huisman has received Approval-in-Principle (AiP) from Lloyd’s Register at the start of METSTRADE 2024 for its innovative and unique concept for the application of hydrogen onboard sailing superyachts.
The shipyard’s inhouse innovation team has been working on the concept for a hydrogen powered fuel cell system specifically for sailing yachts, which consists of a number of high-pressure hydrogen bottles and a fuel cell of about 100 kW. The generated energy will be sufficient to power the onboard hotel load: quietly, sustainably and emission-free.

You know Royal Huisman for its reputation built upon hundreds highest quality sailing yachts. Being able to handle the complexities of lightweight construction while assuring the strength needed to cross oceans is taking this 140-year Dutch shipyard on a new tack – bespoke motoryachts by Royal Huisman.
In 2021 and again in 2024, Royal Huisman delivered groundbreaking aluminum motoryachts that other builders said could not be built. That kind of challenge has always been in the shipyard’s wheelhouse.
The spectacular Special One, a record-breaking 171ft sportfish yacht is the largest of its kind in the world and capable of 30+ knots. The individual construction challenge of this Royal Huisman project was well outside the comfort zone of many other yards.

This 56m / 184ft world-cruising ketch was deemed “close to perfect” by her experienced owners: a husband-and-wife team who simply wanted a larger yacht with even more impressive performance — the stunning new 65m / 212ft big sister, Aquarius.
