Bergen Cathedral has a long and turbulent history, and for almost 900 years people have worshipped here. On the outside of the church, there's a cannonball in the west wall of the façade of the Cathedral which evokes special attention. It has been sitting here since the battle on the Bay of Bergen in 1665 between the 🇬🇧 and 🇳🇱 Navies.

Vaksdal municipality is located along the E16 between Bergen and Voss, about an hour drive from the city centre of Bergen. When driving in this area, it is well worth taking a detour to Hesjedalsfossen Waterfall, which is located on road 569.

Bergsdalen is also a great place to visit. Bergsdalen is a 45 kilometer long old road between Bergen and Voss. In the Bergsdalen mountains, DNT (The Norwegian Trekking Association) offers several cabins where you can spend the night.

Did you know that Bryggen in Bergen is a World Heritage Site, and one of Bergen's and Norway's main attractions? 🇳🇴 😍

The very first buildings in Bergen were situated at Bryggen, as early as the 11th century. In 1360, the German Hanseatic League set up one of its import and export offices at Bryggen, dominating trade for almost 400 years. To stroll through the narrow alleyways and overhanging galleries is to step back into the mists of time and a bygone era. Bryggen has been ravaged by many fires, the great fire of 1702 in particular. It reduced the whole of the city to ashes. The area was rebuilt on the foundations that had been there since the 12th century.
